Nathan Ake

I suspect if Chelsea had been offering £40-50m, he’d be gone.

This deal is off because Chelsea wouldn’t meet our valuation, so your point doesn’t stand.
?..my point/opinion was that i would have sold ake for the amount x to give mbete the game time...city has other plans...but it`s bad news for mbete who will now likely be loaned

Don't rate Ake that highly (some of that due to him suddenly having issues with injury since joining - backups need to be reliably fit), I think he lacks composure on the ball and positionally can get dragged about, but happy about this. Selling now and having to find a replacement as good (and as versatile) as him with a WC in 6 months would be difficult and needless hassle.

Bottom line...4 CBs...this takes all the "we don't need 4 CBs, we won't replace Ake, we have cover" crowd off the hook...as far as I'm concerned we were always going to go with 4 CBs no matter...just like we'll go with 4 FBs...it will be Walker, Cancelo, Zinchenko (if he stays), and Cucurella or Raum...if Zinny goes kook for Kabore to get bumped up or both MC and Raum to come in...City rejected a bid of 17 mil+ for Kabore whilst selling off half of the youth team players...must be a reason...

bad news for mbete...good news for the people who don`t trust the youth/academy...40-50m could have been invested in nkunku, bellingham or bernardo replacement (if he goes next year)

It wouldn't have been though, even if Chelsea had offered it and we accepted it. It would have gone on another CB, likely an even more expensive one. And Mbete still wouldn't have got a look in.
