Nathan Ake

Everton pushing like mad to get a deal done, no idea why we'd let him go another twist in this shambolic transfer window.

You'd only let him go if you're planning to replace him right now. The bigger picture, however, is that he doesn't form part of our long-term plans, so I suspect the club are happy to get any players off the books if their contract expires before 1st July 2027 and there are no plans to extend.

I view Ake and Stones as job sharing one of the Centre Back roles. With both being homegrown there’s no point in selling either.

The problem was they were on a job share but for most of last season neither one of them was available.

Provides cover on the left for both Josko and Ait Nouri and is good enough to push both of them out of the starting line up. Injury history is obviously a complication and his relative lack of pace would also be an issue if his positioning wasn't top drawer.

Would be a mistake to let him go

No, he isn't good enough to bench them, especially Gvardiol.

With Akanji having left, I doubt we can afford to let Ake go, though.

This is why Alanji was always the most expendable of the 3. They all had their qualities and weaknesses, but #s always supported the position he'd most likely be the one to leave
