Aye and there was definitely nothing wrong with Italian nationalism at the same time. Or Spanish nationalism for decades after.

There are two types of nationalism. The first is used by the powerful to oppress and/or exclude others, and the second is used to rally people around overthrowing an external oppressor.

The sort of 'Christianity' they want is the American RW Evangelistic sort. The kind of 'Christianity' which spouts heresy such as Prosperity Theology, which is clean contrary to Christ's teaching. The sort that picks out ancient Jewish texts to condemn gay people while ignoring the equally valid Jewish texts that ban eating prawns or wearing clothes made from more than one material, or that give you the right to sell your daughter into slavery.

As for nationalism, it is the curse of the world since 1800. Another evil doctrine which divides populations and persecutes 'other'. Loving your country and nationalism are not the same at all. It is a sophism to say they are, put about by the sort of sad sacks who wave little Union Jacks and arselick the royals while fiddling with their taxes and stealing from the taxpayer.
