I remember a time where the word fascism was kind of thrown around in a bit of a hyperbolic way but Suella Braverman is exactly that. The extent to which she will so find the cruellest position on literally any issue is both depressing and alarming.

Also, kind of goes to show how people very much have red Vs blue on their minds when they go to vote because I struggle to believe that the people in her constituency truly know or believe in everything she stands for.

Her whole schtick is designed to appeal to a relatively small number of powerful right wing wealthy people who keep her in place to further their goals and a much larger number of generally decent people who pay little attention to politics but latch on to the occasional sound bite that they can relate to. The fact that she regularly contradicts herself, tells complete lies and then lies about her lies is lost on her target audience whose main concerns do not include taking any interest at all in politics, and get their news from Facebook.

I've always thought you can look as politics as a clock, with right-wing beliefs at 3 o'clock and left-wing beliefs at 9 o'clock. At midday, is the centre ground, much like we had in the 1960's and 1970's, where the two main parties were virtually indistinguishable. Then there's 6 o'clock, where the two extremes of the left and right meet, and are also virtually indistinguishable.

This lot would never use the term 'National Socialism' but that's exactly what they sound like, with their anti-semitic dog-whistles of 'globalism' and 'cultural Marxism', and their nods to the 'Kinder, Kuche, Kirche' ideology of the Nazi party. Everyone who isn't them, is the enemy.

I think it’s in part to her awareness that she has the potential to be a target of the party racists so she is going further right just to fit in. Same goes for Patel.

she is positioning herself for a run at Sunak's job - maybe she thinks as the Tories have done women leaders done a leader of colour so she has no worries on that score.

If Sunak had any bollocks he's sack her but he is scared that that will strengthen her hand still further
