Nations League

I thought Southgate was a refreshing change when he first took over but getting increasingly frustrated by this drab, no enjoyment, dull brand of football his team is producing.

This isn’t on the players either, the guy is starting 7 defensive players and expects them to produce attacking football?

I do get this, and tbf even Pep and many others know you need at least one who can "control" the game in a more safe manner. (i.e. Gundo + Rodri)

However, if you play 3 centre midfielders you can put out 2 more designed to attack and one focused on defense.

I'd put Henderson/Rice deepest, Foden possibly next as a Mezzela of sorts because of his ability to make runs from deep (maybe the issue Soutgate is worried about if the ball is given away) and then Grealish as a no. 10-like playmaker who doesn't need to work as hard (fits who Grealish is anyway).

I'd absolutely try that out at some point, like say NOW, down 2-0.
The team mirrors the manager
And the fa only appoint conservative risk averse boring cunts so it’s no surprise really

I think due to the opposition he didn't want to be THAT open.

If it was a lower quality side maybe he'd try that, but then again maybe not because tactical consistency might be more beneficial when you don't get so much time to train with the players.

That is an argument against riskier football on International levels (and why I think it is so much worse than club level now).

You need more time to practise as a team unless MANY of your players are used to playing together on another club.

That's how Spain was so strong. Barca and RM made up all their key players and the centre midfield (Xavi/Iniesta/Busquets) which was the heartbeat of the team all on the same club.
