NBC want two English games to be played in USA

The only way they could do it where the impact on home/advantage is shared evenly, would be if they enter a US team into the premier league. They can have 19 games there that way too.

Can you imagine playing away in Fenerbache on a Wednesday in the CL, followed by playing away at the San Francisco Pelicans on Saturday lunchtime!

I realized after reading your post how annoying I sounded - you’re right, certainly not the only one with kids and limited weekend time. I find the cultural differences in how we support sports and how the different countries view “fandom” interesting, so thanks for the discussion.
Nah, you didn't sound annoying, it's just a culture clash. All in jest.

I can see the FA going for that.

"City V Arsenal...I see City are on a pre season tour of USA and Arsenal are in China. We'll play this year's in Shanghai..."
Honestly mate, I do appreciate that match is FA not PL, but surely the money men could find a way to make it work. The NBC guy mentioned ‘at the start of the season’ in his interview anyway iirc, so this fixture, in August, would be ideal.

I’ll bet NBC don’t have the rights to it though ;-)

Not yet.

They could in future though.

Imagine it's the last day of the season, and Liverpool edge City to the league title by a single point. But Liverpool's 39th game was against a shit relegation side who only managed three wins all year, and ours was against Arsenal or another top four team.

Given that every single American in favour of this fucking ridiculous idea is literally only supporting City because they went 'hey, soccer is trendy, and I wanna cheer on a team that's guaranteed to win loads of trophies so I feel more successful by association' (note that I don't say that every American fan thinks like this), I would love to see how they would respond when their bright idea costs us one of the trophies they so desperately desire.

It would be the end of my time watching top football, I have to say.
