Nedum Onouha

He'll offer cover - I'd rather have him in my squad than O'Shea, Evans, or Gibson who were part of a Premier League winning squad. And he will help the homegrown quota. Also, while his form did fade with Sunderland's as a whole, earlier last season he was outstanding at times, even had Bale largely in his pocket one game, and scored one of the goals of the season against Chelsea. Consider that plus us having the best manager in the entire league to get something out of a defender (ask Micah and Lescott), then he could be a good player for us still.

Good enough to be in our squad but will always be last resort.

Kompany, Lescott, Kolo, Boateng and Boyata ahead of him at centre half.
Richards, Zabaleta. Boateng and Boyata ahead of him at right back.

He needs to go for his sake, he shouldn't have been so stupid and arrogant on Soccer AM, look at Lescott, pissed off but got on with it and always believed that there may be a chance, he got his rewards for being professional.
He's better than Kolo, Boateng and Boyata.
pmsl
I'm right though.

Kolo has been average or shite since joining us. Boyata looks a great prospect and could be better than Nedum but not yet. Boateng is gash. Onuoha never put a foot wrong when playing for City.

he booked himself a one way ticket with that soccer am interview, maybe if he had been like lescott n knuckled down things would be different, but he didnt.

Unfortunately I think you're bang on. I like Ned and there was a time when him and Micah were both at the same level. Micah has improved greatly this season though and is now showing what we thought he could be like when he was 17. I don't think Nedum has shown anywhere near the same level of improvement. If he had, I suspect Mancini would welcome him back with open arms. As it stands we'll flog him for around £4M, which is a damn shame.

If you think there is a maneger in professional football who would accept the slagging Mancini took of Ned, then you are the one being clueless.

Ned has burned his brigdes with Mancini.
Apart from saying he didn't think Mancini liked hi, there was no "slagging off", it was all over dramatized.

But there are too many people who make attempts to rationalise Mancini's decisions instead of analyse them ie Jo over Bellamy, Boyata over Lescott against Arsenal etc.

I would suggest you go back and watch that interview again, no player in the history of football has ever gotten away with anything close to that.

Bellamys departure was not just about Mancini he had fallen out with Cook Marwood and Mancini, so suggesting that Bellamy was shipped out because of Mancini is not really fair.

Oh and no matter how many times people pretend that Jo was picked over Bellamy does not make it true, Bellamy was shipped out because he fell out with everybody at City.
Liar. He fell out with one or two. Don't lie.

He should have kept his mouth shut but it wasn't that bad. No where near as bad as tevez he says much worse on almost a daily basis and many ignore it.

Given has said worse on a few occasions. Even lescott and aj had a good moan to the press when they were out of the side.

Personally regardless of tevez importance I have a lot more time for a local lad who loves the club and has always done well for us. He made a mistake Mancini is a big boy so is nedum. They can sit down shake hands and we can move on.

Be great to have him back and much better than that sack of shit Cahill that would cost us 17 - 20 million.

Not sure if people noticed but he had a great season at Sunderland and missed few games. He would be a squad player but the benefit is he can cover right back and centre half.

Regardless it seems it could be on the cards judging by the men article today.

As a squad player I'd certainly have him back like a shot. Is he any worse than Evans, Smalling, Wes Orange or the backups at the dippers, Chelsea and Arsenal (Djorou?) - not even going to bother looking to see who are the backups at Spuds or Everton. Not every player in the squad can be world class and Ned is certainly capable of being rotated in the squad at games like Wigan, Swansea etc and putting in a decent shift.

I hope him and BM can kiss and make-up, it seems crazy to be prepared to pay out £17m for Cahill when we have someone who is at least 90% as capable for nothing other than his wages.

Whether he can push on for a 1st team place is up to him but a local, city supporting, average PL standard, ex-academy squad player (who can fill in for 2 positions) should be an ideal member of the squad.

I think his Soccer Am interview was worse than some are making out on here. He is an intelligent guy and he knew exactly what he was doing imo, he was very publicly undermining the manager. Not only that but lots of what he said just didn't stack up (particularly the stuff about Lescott and Hughes) and came across as being nothing other than spiteful imo. If he publicly apologised then maybe there could be a way back but I doubt he will. And even if he does apologise, he then has to try to force his way into the team, which he won't as he isn't good enough. He won't be happy being on the bench and will just agitate again at some point. Personally, I think we should sell him while we can still get a reasonable fee.

Truth is it probably was meant to undermine the manager...but then there are a lot of players who have felt that Mancini has undermined them since he arrived at City. Neds was venting because he'd found out literally that morning that City had offered him to Villa as part of the Milner deal - and this is without anyone from City ever telling Neds that he was surplus to requirements.

Water under the bridge though...

From a logical and business point of view I can see us keeping Neds as a replacement for Boateng. All transfer business will be seen through the prism of the FFPR for clubs like City. Why would we sell Neds to go out and sign another defender to be a squad player (as Boateng ultimately ended up due to the rise of Micah)...especially when Neds is a) English and b) came through our academy and c) is certainly good enough to be a squad player...
