People saying we should've signed Ibra don't understand what's going on at City and what we're trying to achieve.
I fully understand, I just don't agree with it. We're not Barcelona, and they can't turn us into Barcelona no matter how hard they try.

You do realise that without Soriano and Txiki's input, Barcelona wouldn't be what they are now?
Definitely, but Barcelona signed Messi and had an academy good enough to produce the likes of Xavi, Iniesta and Busquets. We don't and won't have for a very long time.

Think you have a point there we can turn city into a far better team than Barcelona on a lot less money also.........

Re: Negredo just signed

Financial details leaked by City to the press:

£16,400,000 initial fee
+ £850,000 if City win the Champions League
+ £500,000 if City win the Premier League
+ £250,000 if City qualify for the Champions League
+ various others that could take it to £20,600,000

I very much doubt Ibrahimovic would have been the best choice for our team - he's the biggest name who is currently available to us, but I don't think that's our focus any more, which seems to be pissing a lot of our fans off.

This is about team building, rather than amassing a list of names - its not as much fun for the Transfer junkies, but its how proper teams build their success.

Ibrahimovic in would have likely seen Aguero off at the first available opportunity - which is a heavy price to pay for a short-term fix.
Aguero would not leave at all, that's a ridiculous assumption to conjure up.

It's all well and good having "team spirit", but Everton have team spirit, that doesn't win you titles when your back's against the wall, individual brilliance does. You clearly don't know enough about Ibrahimovic if you think he's just a name, utter madness to think just because he's a world class player he's not going to be part of a team.

I'm not talking about team spirit, but well done for missing the point - I'm talking about building a team. We've got plenty of individual brilliance in our side, which puts us well above Everton in terms of our aspirations (although their 'team spirit' does seem to beat us, every fucking season - so it must count for something!)

I don't think Ibrahimovic is 'just a name' - what I do think is that when he joins a Club, the Club becomes all about Ibrahimovic - everything goes through him, and he is the focal point of all the team's play, to the detriment of others in the team. Which is why in my opinion I feel Aguero wouldn't stick around to play a side role in the Zlatan show.

Ibrahimovic is the absolute antithesis of 'building a team', and for a short term fix who is fast approaching 32, to shape our entire team around him would be madness. What happens when he then retires, and our entire focus and game plan retires with him?

He's a No from me - however good a player he may be.

So what did I say then?! An overview: I understand what we're trying to do, I just don't agree with it, because they had Messi + far better academy. To compensate, we need to sign the occasional player who breaks the mould, i.e. Ibrahimovic, because we cannot create a great side using the methods of Barcelona just yet.

If you took anything other than that from what I've said, it's your problem.
