Underwhelmed. We've missed out on an opportunity here, Ibrahimovic was available but we've settled for a player in Negredo who will be fourth choice by the end of the season. £20m on a 27 year old fourth choice player? Not good. This 'holistic' approach where we cut out any problem players is really starting to grind on me, we could have secured Ibrahimovic on a three year deal and got two or three years of world class service from him.

Negredo isn't better than Dzeko, you'll all be sick of him within 12 months I can guarantee it. Our first choice line up should look like -

------------Aguero
Silva/Nasri--Jovetic--Silva/Navas

Which means we have back up in the form of Negredo and Dzeko, two similar players, and the only back up for that #10 spot is Nasri/Silva who lack goals. I'd much rather, if we're cost cutting and avoiding 'problem players', we used Guidetti for fourth choice, or signed a new, young striker to take that fourth choice spot.

you have no idea how pelli wants to set his team up and by all accounts he aint no 4th choice especially with what Negredo has been saying about pelli convincing him to join us.

Re: Negredo just signed

Looking forward to seeing what this lad can do, especially with our lineup feeding him.

I very much doubt Ibrahimovic would have been the best choice for our team - he's the biggest name who is currently available to us, but I don't think that's our focus any more, which seems to be pissing a lot of our fans off.

This is about team building, rather than amassing a list of names - its not as much fun for the Transfer junkies, but its how proper teams build their success.

Ibrahimovic in would have likely seen Aguero off at the first available opportunity - which is a heavy price to pay for a short-term fix.

What are you talking about? There are only so many variables in the way you can set a side up, and knowing Pellegrini like I do, it's quite obvious he'll employ the 4231/4222. It's Pellegrini's job to convince him to join, he's hardly going to put him off is he?! The only thing Negredo could possibly bring to the side that Dzeko can't is work rate, and that's irrelevant when we should be starting with Aguero and Jovetic. Dzeko and Negredo will fight for third choice, simple as that, and Dzeko is a much better goal scorer. Negredo fourth choice by next May, mark my words.

Re: Negredo just signed

Signing Ibrahimovic would have been the second worst idea in football history, we do not need his ego after clearing out the problems.

Aguero would not leave at all, that's a ridiculous assumption to conjure up.

It's all well and good having "team spirit", but Everton have team spirit, that doesn't win you titles when your back's against the wall, individual brilliance does. You clearly don't know enough about Ibrahimovic if you think he's just a name, utter madness to think just because he's a world class player he's not going to be part of a team.

The fee is much lower than was being reported, only £16.4m up front with a few in future addons.

Source? Not saying you are wrong but we're all too quick on here to slag something off and claim it's wrong if it's putting City in a bad light but we are willing to believe anything no questions asked if it puts City in a favourable light. I can't see Sevilla (who don't forget are only selling all these players because they need cash and quick) letting him go for that much upfront.

Not the big name most wanted and won't exactly have United and Chelsea quaking in their boots but he'll get us the goals we lacked last season which is what we badly need so can't argue with this transfer. Hate to use this example but i think he'll be our Van Horseface. Maybe not technically as good as our other strikers and the players around him but a pure goalscorer.

Re: Negredo just signed

People saying we should've signed Ibra don't understand what's going on at City and what we're trying to achieve.
