Welcome.
Mentioned it on here before. My abiding memory of Craven Cottage is just before Xmas 1984. As we did quite often in the 80s a few of us paid into the home seats for the match. We were above a paddock with the City fans just to our left. It was dead quiet so we decided to ask stewards to let us go into the City end. They said ok and walked us down steps, into the paddock then through a gate and onto pitch. 5 lads turned left but me and one other lad decided to walk right round the pitch for a laugh. When we got to the far end the lad with me said "I'm going to nick that bag" he was pointing at a bag in the back of the Fulham goalkeepers net !!. I said yeah right but sure enough he walked round goalpost picked up bag and put it under his coat.
Unfortunately City were attacking as he did it and all eyes were on the Fulham box. I turned and walked away as police and stewards appeared from everywhere.
We both ended up getting nicked.
We were in Horseferry Rd magistrates in the New Year and I got fined £50 for breach of the peace and my mate got fined £80 for theft of a bag containing spare gloves and a flannel!!!
Day after court The Sun had a headline saying "6784(?) Witness Theft". Also on Radio One I think it was Mike Read on his show had my mate as his Loser of the Day!!!
Anyway not seen Sean for about 30 years but I reckon he still owes me £50.
Top story. Mike Read had a 'Loser of the Day' spot? Not very big on self-awareness, is he. What was in the keeper's bag, BTW?
