New Beatles song released

I have no problem at all with people not loving The Beatles as i do. Why should I ? It's all subjective, we're all different. If we were all the same life would be boring.

I do get a bit twitchy when people say they were shite and overrated. if they were shite how did they sell a billion records and have thousands of cover versions of their songs ?
Even this new release already has 10 million streams on Youtube. Not bad for a shite group that split up 53 years ago :)

But yeah I've no problem with people not liking them, I never liked Queen but I appreciated their talent.

Spot on fella

Love the Beatles but it’s not obligatory to like them.

When I see people (not referring to anyone on here) say they are overrated I just think it’s often a fancy way of saying I don’t like them. As though the person has a more important opinion.

Music is all about opinions but it amuses me when some people say they hate the Beatles and will then name their favourite act where you can see a Beatles influence and / or the act professes to be really big fans of them.

At times like this, I turn to Partridge for his expert opinion.
Ben : Who's Wings?
Alan Partridge : They're only the band The Beatles could have been.
; )

Wow that surprises me. I quit Spotify when Neil Young did so I don't know.

Here's the official vid for the new song. Extremely clever and well crafted filming and creation.

Tried another search today and for some reason the albums appeared on Spotify. Bit weird, but happy days.

This new song is very interesting. First time I heard it I thought "meh", second time it grew on me, now I really rather like it. It isn't up there with the finest work of course, but if the technology exists why not do the job and release it for the world to hear.

Where do I stand on them as a whole? Well compared to many acts they weren't around for that long, but personally I regard them as the most important act in popular music history. I'm not mad on the earlier stuff, and even their top albums have weak tracks, but if I could only ever listen to one band ever again it would be them. (Two bands, and I'd include Abba, three and the Stones get in).

it's a digital voice done with AI and not really John Lennon voice is it

The truth is this so-called new Beatles song was not written for the Beatles ? written by John Lennon in 1978 when he was a solo artist and Never was going to be a Beatles Song,
wrong

anyone trying to ‘start’ listening to the Beatles please try and get hold of the mono versions of the album tracks.

The modern versions, pre streaming, were for many years the 1987 stereo mixes used on the CDs and were shit frankly - sparse and with different instruments in each channel, including the voice. on headphones its unlistenable at times.

Then everything was remixed a number of different times into new stereo mixes, firstly in 2009 and then in more recent times again by tinkerer in chief Giles Martin (son of George the original producer).

best tip on apple music is to search for the ‘US albums’ compilations which have mono mixes of the earlier album tracks. not sure if these are on spotify.

otherwise try and listen to the 50th anniversary editions of the later albums if on streaming.

Ffs why does it have to be so complicated, I just want to hear what they sounded like back then.
This nonsense is part of the reason I couldn't be arsed in the first place.
Not a dig at you, BTW, but you don't get this sort of confusion with other bands.

its cos of how old it is. stereo was a new thing and those mixes were an afterthought.

if you want to hear what they sounded like back then you have to get a mono record player and a uk pressing from one of the first few runs.

anyway if you’re streaming i’ve told you how to get the mono versions or just listen to the recent anniversary editions of the albums from revolver onwards

Cheers, I guess I'll not know the difference anyway, completely new to beatles albums.
I was surprised to see I saw her standing there as the opening track on please please me. It's a record I've always liked.
Looking forward to listening to the album.
Thanks for the guidance, it's appreciated

My favourite band ever, are clearly huge fans and it clearly shows in their whole back catalogue, I appreciate the love for them, and how they changed popular music forever. I respect them for that.

But I just don't enjoy them. I know exactly why too. As a child between say three and ten, (1963 - 70) I was regularly babysat by my two older girl cousins. During which times, they played Beatles records over and over and over and sodding over again. They even took me to see them (at Belle Vue?) in 66. The buggers brainwashed me with them.

So as I grew into a teen and discovered 'my own' music (Sweet, T.Rex, Mott The Hoople, early Queen) I did all I could to distance myself from the Beatles ... I even gave away (or worse) binned much Beatles memorabilla I had got from them ... cups, coins, plates, handkerchiefs, etc.

Maybe my love of Cheap Trick is subliminally linked to my early exposure to them ...

Heard it - nowt special and comes across as - to me and probably incorrectly - McCartney wanting to be as relevant as the Stones who recently released a whole album - neither will change the world of music

John’s singing on Twist and Shout is my favourite bit of that album.

It's impressive what they've been able to do to separate the vocal from the ropey old recording but I don't think the song itself is anything great and that's pretty much why it was a leftover until now.

Much prefer the ones they did on the Anthology in a similar manner, Free As A Bird and Real Love.

Two and a half million views in one day tells you all you need to know about the Beatles this little film is really good, “Now and Then“ the record I’m not sure about it but George Harrison didn’t like it he thought it was rubbish.

That 2 million views has grown to 14 million in 1 day it tells me all I need to know which group is most popular.
I’ve heard it a couple of times and I like it :)
