New Beatles song released

I'd go straight in with Rubber Soul and Revolver, they're what I'd call serious albums (not poppy)

More of less in the middle years, just before Sgt Pepper , there are a lot of serious classic songs on those 2 albums which fans view as a pair. Revolver usually gets muted as their best, i'm not sure, maybe abbey Rd...but the albums they wrote in 6 years was incredible.

I’ve a mate who was and still is totally over the top about them.
I’m not saying I never got them. I mean, they wrote great pop songs. And the volume of their work at such a high quality really puts them up,there.
But Beatles heads just don’t get that not everybody rates them quite as highly.

It’s like talking to Oasis heads. A band I just don get the hype over as well.
Music is totally subjective.
I like the Beatles but they were of their time. There was other stuff around at the same time that I like better.

I know. Cilla black and Gerry and the pacemakers were even better. I would also add a couple of Ken Dodd tracks too.

I know you're trying to drop me in at your best advised point, and, I did ask for that. But your reply is just confusing, to a none beatles fan. I haven't a clue about any of the stuff you've said lol.

I've got a mate who is that obsessed with the Beatles he paid a grand for a brick from the cavern club.
Fair enough, it's his money he can spend it on what he wants, but...fuck me lol

They're best off compilations. Just their hits really. I've never been keen on compilations personally....I'd get individual albums if you want to get to know the band better.
As I mentioned start with Rubber Soul & Revolver.

Sounds like from what you've said you don't much like their poppy stuff so don't start with their earliest albums.

Given all the facts, I'm starting from the beginning, poppy or not.
Only way really, as I want to hear how they evolved.
I genuinely mean that, I'm a complete beatles noddy.

I have no problem at all with people not loving The Beatles as i do. Why should I ? It's all subjective, we're all different. If we were all the same life would be boring.

I do get a bit twitchy when people say they were shite and overrated. if they were shite how did they sell a billion records and have thousands of cover versions of their songs ?
Even this new release already has 10 million streams on Youtube. Not bad for a shite group that split up 53 years ago :)

But yeah I've no problem with people not liking them, I never liked Queen but I appreciated their talent.

Fair do's Cru.........start with "Please Please Me" album. Recorded live in one day at Abbey Rd Studios.

I like them.
Not as highly as you.
I certainly don’t rate them as shite.
The world seems to rate them also.
Fine by me.
I probably got into music in the 70’s which could be a factor.

You see, if I had a gun to my head I couldn't have named that album.
And knowing it was recorded in one day just makes me more inquisitive about the whole beatles thing.

It has a few Lennon McCartney original songs and a few covers they liked doing on stage.
The last song they recorded on that day was Twist and Shout as John had a cold and he knew he could only sing it once before his voice went completely.
