New Beatles song released

The Beatles jumped every bandwagon going.
They wrote two kinds of songs.
1. Throw away sugar coated 3 minute pop songs
2. Songs about fuck knows what whilst shit faced on who knows what. I am the walrus cu-cu-a-fuckin'-cho
LoL
You Beatle hater

Out of curiosity what category would you put this in ?

I had no expectations of ‘Now and Then’ so I can’t profess to being disappointed by it. As I feared, it’s exactly the same kind of dull, plod along, ballad as ‘Free as a Bird’ and wouldn’t have come within a mile of making it onto any one of The Beatles 13 original studio albums, even Yellow Submarine. About as ‘meh’ as it gets……and I say that as one of the biggest Beatles nuts on this forum!

Think it's really nice. John's vocals are a bit fluffy and globby in the way so many AI voices still are, but the overall work that's gone into it is great. Could have been released during the Abbey Road / Let It Be era and wouldn't have skipped a bit.

Ffs.
When will the world give up on the hype around these scouse chances?

I watched the One Show special last night and commented to my other half that would there still be the same deference towards The Beatles if John hadn't have been murdered in 1980?
Would there still be the same love if he turned into a cantankerous old man like Van Morrison, or descended into a sea of bland like McCartney, Elton John or Cliff Richard?
I guess we'll never know.

As a massive Beatles fan I was anxious about this song. Because part of what made them great was quitting at the top unlike other acts ( a lot who took on many of their ideas) we can all name who go on too long.

Listening to it it’s not bad and it’s great to hear Lennons voice with a fairly decent tune.

But it lacks that certain something which made the band special.

Good point.
Same can be said for Joy Division, Nirvana and a few others.
