New boo boy?

it's a group psychology thing. everyone gets frustrated with players, and all players are criticised at one time or another, but somehow, sometimes, the group decide between them that it is open season on a particular player... people's perceptions change, when they are playing badly it's because they are 'lazy' or 'uncommitted', they focus more and more on the bad, they 'minimise' the good things they do. like someone yesterday said that robinho was lucky that his goal didn't go over the bar.

I couldn't give a toss about robinho but that shot couldn't possibly have gone over.

This post is bollocks...

People are making out like individual players are getting boo'ed whenever they touch the ball, but this is just a post created because some of you can't take the fact that others have been criticising Robinho on here !

Yeah people can get frustrated with players at the game, but there's a difference between that and actually booing a player. I'll admit that I was getting frustrated with Benjani in last weeks derby because he appeared not to be chasing the ball down...this simple action could have helped to alleviate the constant pressure we were under in the last 10 mins or so, but what I didn't do was fucking boo him !!

All I did was shout things like "Getting fucking stuck in", or "Close him down FFS"....What should I have done ?? Clapped and cheered at the fact that he was strolling round the pitch ?

Encourage him?

Cheered him and supported him to improve his performance?

Get behind the team?

Just a thought.

I remember how the Goat improved once people got behind him.

I'm sorry, I didn't realise I was watching U12's school football and I need to nurture the players and encourage them to do the job that they are getting paid an astronomical amount of money for ??

Do you see Ferguson, who happens to be the most successful manager of our era like it or not, standing on the touchline whispering sweet nothings into the players ears ? No, he gives them a fucking good rollicking because he expects a certain level from them...that's what they get fucking paid for.

Let's be honest we're talking about seasoned professionals, not some kid who is making his first team debut.

So players need encouragement to even run now ?? Hahaha, Dickheads...

I agree with an earlier poster, I think it should be the OP, the bluemOng, says it all

could be right.... I just remember his dad has a link with everton.

According to wiki (i know its not reliable) he was born in Urmston, that makes him a manc in my eyes.

yep fair enough, wasn't sure

the point about the difference between what is said on hear and what happens at the ground is an interesting one.... adebayor has been slated left right and centre on here, but still gets vocal support at the games. hughes was destroyed repeatedly on here but I don't think there was any real dissent aimed at him in the ground (Big Mal's Cigar is the exception that proves the rule).

it's true tho that what is said on here is seen by the media and players alike. how seriously they take it, I don't know. but it can't be nice for anyone to read some of the things that are said on here, and the more people that post it, the more disturbing it could be. I'm sure any sensible player takes it all with a pinch of salt, but still....

like I say, it's a group thing. the more people that join in the criticism, the more likely it is that some real idiots go way over the top. it's nasty to read, and real, sustained negativity somehow changes the atmosphere for everyone, it's harder to feel positive about the team even when we win, it undermines that feeling of togetherness.

one of mancini's traits is his unwillingness to pick out individuals for public criticism, win or lose it's all about the team. it's something I admire because I think it's wise. even if it's too much to expect from everyone, all of the time, to me, the more people start to act in the same way, the better. we're going places, there's just no need to worry excessively about any one player.
