New City Pub To Open Inside the Stadium

The Alderley Edge would be more apt than The Ardwick these days

I’m alright jack

I don’t think anyone has said it should be free. And most if not the majority won’t be going as it’s mainly for corporates.

If you can’t see why people don’t like this/ aren’t bothered by it then I’m sure you can afford it.

Lots of fans in general already feel alienated by clubs. Tunnel club, ever increasing corporate sections and a club at times completely out of sync with its core fans base don’t help. Things like this are another example of that. It’s all about rinsing the fans and catering to corporates
How does it affect you?

Food and drink concessions, betting kiosks, commonwealth club, programmes etc all designed to take money from fans, but doesn't mean you have to participate.

What I would object to is areas of the ground previously devoted to fans being upgraded into corporate. If people can afford to give their money to City - let them do so. No skin off the nose of those who can't unless seating starts to change i.e, more corporate areas in the ground at the expense of fans. If you look at City's ground expansion plans, City added the South stand tier and filled in with cheap season tickets, and the North Stand plans sound similar.

I suppose if you are willing to pay £2,000 per year just for admission, you are oblivious to also paying £10 for the 'Manchester Madras'.

What planet are some people living on, not just the 'suits' who come up with this shit?

I'm talking Blues who will pay to such an extent, to essentially remove themselves from mixing with the majority of their fellow supporters.

Even if I was a billionaire, I would still know the value of a pound.

Probably more so!

But you are a millionaire?

It's simple, the club has to find more ways of raising revenue every season, that or stand still and stagnate. Would the 'purist' prefer the club to jack up seat prices each season and keep the club pure?

But the club is jacking up seat prices and matchday revenue has fallen from £56.6m in 2018 to £55m (although that's due to accounting changes rather than a fall in actual income). On a like-for-like basis it would have been £58.2m for 2019, an increase of £1.6m. Given that we were in an FA Cup final in 2019, compared to 2018, that probably represents a like-for-like fall of around £1m. That means the price rises last summer either haven't fed through or they have and we've lost money in other areas.

Whatever anyone thinks, we can't turn the clock back and hospitality is an essential element in the revenue mix these days. United get something like 60% of their matchday revenue from this source and I can't imagine that the numbers using these facilities amount to more than 12.5% of overall matchday attendees. I suspect that we're struggling with the higher-end hospitality offerings (Legends, Chairman's Club, etc). I don't think the club are getting the sort of yield from these it would like and that they're having to give away margin to attract custom. The more casual, pie-and-a-pint hospitality offerings seem to be doing well though. If we get 100 people in this new Ardwick suite, that could make up for 25 people we don't get in the Chairman's Club.

I was in the Family Stand Level 2 for the CL & Southampton League Cup games and at one I noticed that the majority of the executive boxes in the East Stand were unoccupied. I asked the club about this and they said these were all largely paid for but not used. I think the same principle should apply to these as to season tickets in that if they're not used enough we should close them down and turn them into open facilities like the Commonwealth Suite and this new Ardwick Pub.

So if it doesn’t directly effect you, you can’t have an opinion on it?? The tunnel club didn’t directly effect me, but I still don’t like it and recognise many others were completely shafted in that area of the ground.

I’d also say a lot of it I can’t participate In because I can’t afford to - like thousands of others

Match day tickets have gone up to ridiculous levels, season ticket prices have gone up in most areas of the grounds. Putting some cheap seats away and out of sight doesn’t change what the club is doing.

The vast majority of things the club are doing are catered towards corporates and rinsing the fans. It’s not right. Keep alienating our core fan base though and More and more of us will stop going

Also As others have said we do not have the corporate fan base - lots of the corporate areas are empty most games
