New company car

I remember when I used to get a monthly allowance which was used to fund a car.
The monthly cost was based on purchase price, depreciation, running cost, insurance group etc.

So you could get a £19k Avensis for the same monthly allowance a £14k Alfa.

Anyway, some of the lads dived in and got BMWs without reading the specs etc.

They got a manual 1.6 (I think) car with a radio, steel wheels with trims on, black bumpers and wing mirrors and cloth seats.

I got full leather with electric, heated seats, electric windows and mirrors all round, 6 CD player, cruise control, colour coded bumpers/mirrors, alloys, sunroof, AC , 2.5l auto with switchable sports mode.

But they got a BMW badge and mine only said Ford ;-)

Of those, I would go for the Merc. The beemer is a hard ride and quite aggressive (why else do you think most BMW drivers are such wankers!). The jag is a good choice if you are over 60.

Damned by faint praise.

got my list through for my new car

Mercedes c220 bluetec
Jaguar XE Prestige
BMW 320 executive

Got a BMW at the moment but fancy a change, Jaguar looks like though.. anyone know about cars as i'm clueless ?

Not much to choose tbh they're all underpowered to meet those co2 targets for bik tax. Is there a cash alternative? might be a better option to get something with some balls.

I'm looking to change mine in December and have a similar dilemma although it's more a question of how to minimise the bik tax; I'm considering a hybrid 4x4 but there is only really the Mitsubishi phev, but it looks shit and the interior is awful.

Cmon mate outside now

I have just bought a C220 bluetech Sport with Premium Plus Package. The Jag wasn't available at the time so was not considered. CO2 emmissions are low £30 pa road tax but you will have to check out the Company car tax.

I tried a BMW 320d M Sport which was very good - the ride was not particularly harsh ( I have has an E46 330d M Sport and that was terrible). Auto box in the BM was brilliant - better than the Merc.

But I really liked the Merc and so went with that. I am probably a bit biased as I have had a few more Mercs than BMW and have just come from a 320CDI E Class.

I didn't consider the Audi for 3 reasons 1) Front wheel drive
2) Due to be replaced soon
3) It's an expensive VW, Seat, Skoda

Very pleased with my choice.
