New European Super League Breakaway Threat

This replaces the champions league. How will they fit in an extra 30 games a season with the league/ FA Cup commitments?

Answer? They won't. The league continues, the cups get fucked off and this competition takes over from the CL. No need to finish top 4 as if you are in it at the start then that's all that counts.

So the big 5/6 get more money. Get the best players.

The rest fight for the scraps.

Possibly. But what about the next idea? And the next idea? European Premier League rejected by fans. Two weeks later, Liverpool and Manchester United in advanced talks for Ryder Cup Style tournament with European teams and MLS.

It depends how you qualify. They're desperate for it to be invitation only rather than earned to protect their income. They want a system where it's just the same teams always competing. And that's the main issue that everyone has with it. I have absolutely no problem with having another tournament to replace the Champions League. Imagine Leicester winning the league in 2016 and then not be able to compete in the Champions' League because they're not one of the history clubs.

People are comparing this to the introduction of VAR, but it's completely different. If competitors haven't qualified for the tournament by right, then it's no longer a competitive sport.

As long as its not a closed shop and as long as it doesn't massively diminish the attraction and competitiveness of the PL... I'm all for anything that marginalizes and damages the c*nts at UEFA (Yes I know we'll probably find out in time that FIFA are just as bad)

The danger is that if 20 big clubs from across Europe go with it and it includes the top clubs from Spain, Italy + Rags and Dippers then the pressure is on for the others as they want to be in before the door slams shut. Its a critical mass thing. Once big names start to say yes then no one wants to be on the outside - how many English teams would they want / need. They might want 4, they may only need 2 for this to get going.

agree football will be a closed shop and be end of football theyve always wanted a super lge and this would be the start so domestic football would suffer massively
 
If the rags and dippers want to join a European super league let them, on condition they are disqualified from the premier league. Of the two leagues - European with no relegation or the premier with no Liverpool or United, which do you think would be most likely to Interest genuine footie fans?
The other 18 prem clubs should have the bottle to resist this.Remember Khaldoon’s end of season 2018/9 (I think) message about protecting the premier league?
That was in the context of the attempted ban on City, but it’s the same principle.
if It does go ahead, then as others have said, that’s me finished after 50+ years following city.
