New European Super League Breakaway Threat

Let me guess. The current Champs League TV deal runs out soon and the bigger teams want more money?

I’ve never thought a Super League was possible as their was never an appetite from the fan base. However, given football now is a 100% TV sport as a result of Covid it may be closer than ever.

That said, I can’t see it

All about getting the American model where there is no relegation, no oversight and the owners run the league

Counter Proposal.
"The Red League"
Us owned clubs who play in red to set up a new league, with the money going to Liverpool, United and Arsenal in proportion 40, 40, 20.
Off you go lads.

Rag Cafe in a meltdown over this and so they should be, we've sold the premier league overseas and the match going fan is now all but irrelevant.

This IMO will not happen, and if it did happen the teams that join it might as well kiss their traditions goodbye, if we join in then City will have died a death for me and I will not watch any of it because it's a circus like sham.

I wonder why no one has suggested yet that the bottom placed club gets first pick of the best players In the league like in the US?

Thinking about this a bit more I wonder if it’s a generational thing. I still feel I can relate, for want of a better word, to City as a club via the memories of standing frozen on the Kippax, having arranged an after match meeting point with my late Dad in case we got separated after the mental goal celebrations etc. This new “initiative“ disassociates me from the action on the pitch in a similar way to when I watch say the masters as a 20 handicap golfer. It’s still quite interesting but no gut feeling of involvement. I live in Fleetwood so may have to spend my dotage watching Fleetwood v Rochdale and others, guided by the wisdom of sir Joseph of Barton
