Weirdly, my lightening icon has disappeared, but even when it was there it still meant scrolling to the top of the page (or clicking the 'up' arrow to get to the top), then clicking the lightening button which then took me to the 'new posts' list instead of the 'unread posts' list.

If you at the bottom of the page just hit forum that then will get you to the unread

It is different if I have my iPad on rotate,length ways loads disappears,horizontal and all I like is there at the top ,weird
