Back in the day if i saw someone in a city top i'd go and have a chat knowing they were probably from the north west and a proper football fan, now i don't bother as they're just as likely to be a JCL glory hunter.

Football has bene stolen from the working man and i hope it all comes crashing down sooner rather than later, but as long as some people keep bending over and paying whatever they're told we've got no chance.

I didn't renew my seasoncard and i'm looking forward to visiting Maine Road FC to watch English players playing for pride and not for greed, standing on terraces with local fans.
In your opinion

Whereas I feel that the City I grew up loving are still there living the age old dream of being the kings of Europe
I started going in 63/64 with my dad and grandad
My kinds went with their dad and grandad
And soon their kids will go with their mum/dad and grandad

I look forward to the season as much as any before, but then again it's always been a family game and a family club for me, and it has remained so

Just tough for you that the club seem to have moved on and you can't

I started going in 1986 and it's always been a family thing for me too, however i won't be taking my lad due to the points i made in my earlier post.

The thing with football is that it's in your blood, but i won't pay the unjustified ticket prices or by the rip off merchandise (i wouldn't buy anything made by Nike for any price to be fair as it's chavvy)

If people are happy with a club that sold it's soul, sterile atmosphere, high prices, greedy players, becoming blue rags and more interesting in being a 'global brand' then fair enough, enjoy it.
In order to watch City my seasoncard cost £715, and that is in one of the expensive stands
£715/19 = £37 a game
I took my kids to the cricket on Wednesday, that was £23 and that was unreserved seating

No-one needs to buy the merchandise, therefore your argument falls down there

Seems to me you are only here to run down the club and its fans because if it was truly in your blood you wouldn't be calling long suffering blues who are now in the sunshine rags

What are you still doing on here then?

Enjoy Maine Road FC. I'm sure you will have a blast.

Why wouldn't i be on here? Enjoy getting ripped off in a ground with no atmosphere pal surrounded by day trippers

I don't consider £600 to watch some of the worlds best players (inc opponents)a rip off. spending wise nobody makes you buy anything in the ground, you are allowed to take your own refreshments in, some the clubs, the rags for certain don't allow this.
atmosphere wise our stand, SS upper, is brilliant, the fact that there is a waiting list for season cards proves you can't possibly be "surrounded by day trippers".

so actually there is no justification to any part of your whingbag post.

enjoy your football and the two men and a dog that joins you.

Seriously FL? You preferred it when we had zero cash? Days away from going bust?

Just look at Portsmouth and ask yourself where you'd rather be. We've been waiting years for success and your bowing out now??

You have a point to an extent but you are wrong and i will try and explain why.

Everyone who supports a football club, from a pub team to the European champions wants that team to be succesful.Ask anyone involved with Maine Road FC and they will tell you they want to win every trophy and competition they enter for.If they had more money, attracted more fans they would have more success and so on and so forth,it is self perpetuating.

Football, for better or worse has moved on,like a lot of things in life and if we want to be succesful we have to move with it.Do i miss standing in piss in the bogs at Maine Road,or getting soaked in the Gene Kelly stand as it was the only place i could get a ticket for?No!

Do i miss not getting chased through the streets of Liverpool/Leeds/West Ham by various mobs of bloodthirsty locals wanting to stamp on my head or slash me with knives because i supported a different club? No!

Do i miss watching Gerry Creaney,Buster Phillips and Jamie Pollock trying to entertain us and win trophies and failing miserably on both counts?Do i fuck!

We never will be rags, ever. So long as the core support pass their knowledge and feelings on to their offspring our unique humour and passion will remain the same. The daytrippers will come and go,it is up to us to try and educate them.

A very succesful man who came from humble beginnings said that people are terrified of success and change and it is what holds them back. They long for it,yearn for it,dream of it but secretly they mentally put every excuse they can think of to stop themselves from taking the necessary steps to achieve it as it terrifies them.If a friend tries to better themselves they try and hold them back. This guy was a floor sweeper in a factory and aspired to be a writer. His wormates were ouraged.''People like us don't become writers son.Look this is a steady job,i have been here thirty years, why leave it?''
He thought,''I sweep floors,do i want to do that the rest of my life and be grateful,or try for something better?'' He is now a bafta winner,a succesful novelist and a playwriter/filmmaker.

So my friend you can stay metophorically sweeping the floors at Maine Road FC and kid yourself that you are a real football fan staying true to your roots,or you can join us on this new and wonderful adventure of joyous football and hopefully success. After 35 years of the equivalent of sweeping the footballing floors at City, which is it to be?Do you not deserve better for your loyal service?

Yeah, i preferred football the way it was mate.

My post wasn't meant to be offensive to any blues by describing them as rags, but one of the main reasons i hated united was the fact it was just a commercial operation and not a club that represents it's local community.

Look, we're all entitled to an opinion on the way football is going and respect the fans that are happy with the way things are going, like i said enjoy it.

So yes i am 'bowing out' now as i no longer have a passion for Manchester City PLC that makes me want to go to the games.

I will however continue to look for free internet streams for selected games (excluding the 'Champions' League but i won't start ranting about that) and if my children or nephews decide to become blues then i may even turn up again one day (domestic cup games for less than £30 only though!)

I stand by my point about ticket prices, but i guess thats all down to an individual on what they believe to be acceptable and value for money, some of you on here seem to have the same passion i had back in the day so i respect your decision to pay the increases.

That's a superb post mate and really hit home. Maybe i am scared of change/success, i liked the way things were, i liked being underdogs and i liked the fact that seeing a City shirt outside of Manchester was rare.

If the ragtops pick it up, that one word will be another stick to beat us with, like 'holistic'. But hey, so what.

That might not be a bad thing and make the Club less likely to hike up prices and prioritise JCLs / commercials.

Prioritising new fans like charging anyone buying a sc for the first time 10% more than anyone just renewing from a previous season?

Cheers mate but I will be paying more than a 10 percent increase this season to stay in the same seat. Our Abu Dhabi leaders hate bad press so may think twice about turfing lifelong long fans out of their seats for corporates if the club's plans are understood.

Fuzzy

I totally agree that you are entitled to your opinion but a quick search of your posts shows you have been banging this particular drum since 15th May 2013

I think by now most have got your message, although few agree with you

What's more I find it odd that you would travel all the way up to Maine Road FC to watch a game when there are loads of local teams much nearer to home that wouldn't cost a minimum of £70 in petrol to get there

Something seems less than right, but I'm trying not to be too judgemental

Thanks for the kind words on my post.I think every City fan of a certain age is scared to some extent and we all get nostalgic up to a point.Would i have swapped the joy of watching us win the league for another 35 years of being everyone's favourite second club,or having some scouser put his arm around me commiserating that,''Hey la i really like City fans'' etcetera etcetera after they have just hammered us 6-0 again??Not a cat in hells chance!!
