It's a sad, sad state of affairs when the quality of material on a fake shirt is better than that of the real thing. People at Nike should take note.

Rag fans have been doing it for the last 10 years, Nike hasn't changed a damn thing.

Supply and demand. I'll bet shirt sales are up on last year and the year before just because there is a global demand for Nike products not seen by Umbro or LC Sportif etc.

Re: New Nike Kit 13/14? (Merged)

Just got my shirt in the post today and I can see why some fans are not happy.
Shit quality and the shield :( the less said about that the better).
I should of just got a blue T-shirt some iron on stickers and made my own.

£55 for that, it's a good job the football is good to watch or I would be really pist off.

It is pretty astonishing the difference between how Americans and British/Europeans when evaluating fabric quality lol. So far none of the blues in the states have expressed any dismay at the kits, maybe because we are used to Nike. But I see where everyone else is coming from. The kit is fine to me I guess. Wearing it now ;)

I've always liked the Dri-Fit clothing, it feels cooler and kind of airy. The new shirt doesn't feel quite the same as some of the others, but it's close. I can't speak to the pulling issue, though, except that in the abstract this doesn't seem to happen to the Nike stuff in general, I'm not sure why it would be an issue with ours in particular

I've always liked the Dri-Fit as well, but to me it seems too flimsy to be used as a jersey fabric. Are you saying the jersey feels exactly the same as the Dri-Fit t-shirts? Or it's different from those, but also slightly different from the other Dri-Fit jersey's Nike has made?

Also, a completely unrelated question to anyone willing to answer! The old Umbro jerseys, how are those? Because they've gone on a big discount and I've been thinking about picking one up for myself.

The 09/10 and 10/11 Umbro shirts are brilliant, if you can get one of them, snap it up.

I mean, I'm not playing in it, so I don't really care about it as jersey fabric. I actually tend to wear my jerseys on planes because they're more comfortable and cool than most cotton shirts. And I'm referring to other Nike Dri-Fit jerseys, my family is of Portuguese decent and I have a couple of Dri Fit Nike Portugal jerseys and the City shirt this year feels slightly different to those. Both feel different from the t-shirts, which I also own but don't have the same texture.

Re: New Nike Kit 13/14? (Merged)

Lets get this straight . Dri-Fit doesn't exist on a replica shirt , thats why you sweat like a **** when your wearing one , a bit like Kappa's 'Gara-Tec' , or Reeboks 'Play-Dry' .... its all bollocks .
they get away with putting the 'Dri-Fit' logo on replica shirts because its a ' replica' of the player issue shirts which ARE Dri-Fit , hence the price of them ...... please stop falling for this corporate , merchandising bullshit !!!!!!

Re: New Nike Kit 13/14? (Merged)

Absolute dog shit material and kit, what the fuck is the club doing putting it's name on this absolute bag of fucking shite.
Kit should last more than 2 fucking minutes, recycled bottles my fucking arse.
City should be ashamed, complete fucking rip off and anybody buying this shit, better put it in a glass fucking case before it pulls and looks like shite.

Re: New Nike Kit 13/14? (Merged)

Didn't think it deserved its own thread so I'll put it in here:

Anyone who thinks we got a bum deal with our new kits should think how Ajax fans must be feeling:

2012/13 Kit:

£64.99 for a slightly different collar.

I reckon the guys at Adidas had a great day:

09:00 - Arrive at work
09:01 - Decide to use last year's kit
09:02 - Actually, we better make at least one change . . . . red collar instead of white . . . oh and round instead of a v-neck
09:03 - To the pub!

Ha, just found this which is the 2011/12 kit:

They literally just change the collar and make a slight adjustment to the cuffs every year.<br /><br />-- Wed Aug 07, 2013 10:32 pm --<br /><br />2010/11:

Re: New Nike Kit 13/14? (Merged)

Is the quality of the Black away kit as bad as the home shirt ????

Re: New Nike Kit 13/14? (Merged)

They all look like a bag of sh#te and I hope Nike fuck off soon, the only good kits in recent years were the 2009/10 ones the rest aint worth the cash.

I was not in favor of the move to Nike at all.

- Nike quality was good 10-12 years ago
- Recent designs have been "cookie cutter" to me
- Was afraid the quality would be similar to a U.S. jersey I bought last year - so many pulls it is now my "around the house shirt"
- Will miss the little details that Umbro brought to the table like:
- the "Blue Moon" script around the neckline of the home 11-12 shirt
- the black fabric on the inside of the sleeves/cuffs of the home 12-13 shirt - something most won't see but just speaks to the thought of the design
- the over-all design of the away 12-13 maroon shirt - the subtle vertical stripes in the fabric, the retro neck band, just everything about it (bought an extra one so I can keep wearing it when the first is old and worn) :)

The Mrs. ordered me one of the new Nike home shirts and I'm honestly afraid to even wear it because I don't want to snag it on something.

Same here mate, got the home and away nike kits but ill only where them on match days as I dont what to pull them.

Umbro was brilliant, the white away shirt with the red and black sash will always be a favourite shirt.

They are the same material mate but my away has held up loads better than my home. My home has 4 visible snags and the hem is coming away yet my black shirt is as good as the day I bought it
