if we ditch the stars then Nike wouldn't use the shield.

until then, unless they can figure out a more cost effective way to reproduce the crest, gonna have to get used to it looks like. is it really that hard/expensive??

Look at Monaco's badge - that's not in a shield, and they've embroidered the fancy crown at the top it seems... looks like we're being fobbed off!

Nike don't embroider badges for any of their teams, so I can't imagine Monaco being an exception (granted, England do have an embroidered star above theirs). I'm no fan of the shield but the alternative would just be a crappy sewn-on patch like all their other teams get.

Although the Monaco crest is the only one of those three that is actually fully embroidered, I absolutely agree.

The could still stitch on the woven cloth badge in two separate pieces to give the same effect as the England and Celtic kits but they chose not to.

This is very poor. And we seem to get the second-rate design team for our kits, as well, which I do not understand as we were touted by Nike as a "premier ambassador" of their brand.

All the badges shown are either shields or circle badges that are basically sown on including the Monaco by the look of it .the club has obviously taken the view to keep the badge as one piece as opposed to a funny shaped badge and embroidered stars.another option would be to put the badge into a circle patch or a shield patch both of these we have used recently with rebock and a totally stupid shield with umbro.kappa from memory embroided straight on to the same sort of material as are current shirts

It isn't available, but if it was, it would be very interesting to analyse the shirt sales data by date new of new kit release. You would need a large enough sample in order to index and create a relative value—and quite a lot of work to normalise the data—but it would be very interesting to try to determine if "early" or "late" release allows for greater new kit and/or old kit sales (volume, not absolute value).
