New Kit Deal - Under Armour?

Well, some bright spark at the top not only negotiated that deal, but it was also signed off by another bright spark right at the top of the food chain at City.

All under the knowledge and understanding of what many of our rivals were getting for their kit deals.

No, we will never know what went on during those negotiations with Nike, or the small print details, but it's safe to say that even with our recent success and worldwide exposure, somebody dropped a bollock negotiating our current kit deal.

Pretty sure we signed a 10 year £6m a year deal with Umbro just before the takeover. It might have been just after, maybe someone could confirm the exact dates?

But whenever it was, we weren't nearly as great a prospect as we are now.

After 4 years Nike sold Umbro and took over the City contract. The deal was doubled to £12m a year. So whoever at the club renegotiated that contract did a pretty good job I reckon at the time to improve the existing terms.

As with the Etihad deal, the Nike deal now looks grossly undervalued. But I think that's the problem with these 10 year deals, the rate of growth we're going through, the club will be unrecognisable in 10 years time.

Anyone can do them if they have image software and the templates from www.yellowimages.com

the positive with UA is that they have shown respect to clubs trying to use Club colours in their kits with Spurs, unlike Nike that just pick colours nilly willy.

Anyone else find it crazy that fans can quickly knock up designs like this which I'm pretty sure we would all love? While Nike have shafted us over the past 3 years.

Agreed. I particularly like those navy/maroon/white 3rd kits. The Kappa shirt they're based on is probably my favourite ever City shirt.

Have we even negotiated with Nike or have they taken over the umbro contract and added a bit on ,before they sold umbro on ?

What bothers me the most about Nike is their lack of decent merchandise beyond the pitch.
-look at the City team shop for Polo's as an example.... There aren't any worth a lick.

Nike made a global push for everyone to wear this Vapor design (realistically we can't be the only club supporters that dislike their kits as a result)
Adidas is just as guilty of just using templates over and over again (see the euro's as the best example)

I kinda like the idea of UA, they'd do what WE WANT to get us to sign with them, rather than Nike TELLING US what we want...

For me...
Spurs kit looks like shiite this season
Saints kits look great

so it's all in the design, UA 100000% will have materials etc that are well made and hold up well.

That Kappa away shirt was great but the team hardly wore it. I think we wore it at Ipswich but can't recall another occasion. We wore a yellow and black number a few times - QPR etc. that season which was never sold to fans - not that anyone would want it!

Ignoring the deal, quality and the maker, those kits on page 1 are tons better than we have now (apart from the red away shorts). They can't be worse quality wise, the deal can't really be worse, can it - and I'm not that bothered who makes our kits.

We really do need to renegotiate our position here- starting 2017 both Chelsea and Spurs are joining Nike- the prices paid....

Chelsea £65m per year and £25m per year for Spurs.

We are being short changed here

I'd be happy with UA, fuck Nike off and get some proper City colours going again with some proper dosh to boot.

No more kits made out of recycled colostomy bags too.
