New PL financial controls | Clubs agree squad spending cap 'in principle'

Survival of the fittest replaced by survival for all, i fail to see how this helps english football progress if anything i see it as more stagnating measure.
I guess it depends on your political leanings. Socialism vs capitalism. FYI, we are in agreement.
Mandating being equally mediocre is much worse than Supporting trailblazers and forward thinkers like our club.

It’s 6x the revenue from the bottom clubs tv deal. Not total revenue for a start.
It’s a little bit TBC, but yeah, it’s more complex than I wrote there. Think I’m just processing what effect it might have and can’t really see much of one as of yet.

I’m missing some info …

The limit is set at the end of each season for the next season ?

So what if the previous season it was much higher and now clubs have to release players to stay under the limit ?

And, most well run clubs are planning 1, 2 or 3 windows in advance. They can’t do one window if they’re not sure what their limit is ?
Yeah it appears you are. The tv deals are known years in advance.

I think it’s great. For years clubs with new investors were stymied as they couldn’t spend more than the turnover except for a small overspend.

Under the new rules, if Burnley are bought out by Saudi, they can, in theory, spend the same as City.

I’m all for it. It’s a total spend cap and will be the same for everyone.

Am I missing something? Wouldn't they still have to comply with the 85% of turnover rule?

Until they change the loaned player rules yet again allowing for only half a player to be on loan to any one club, and since you can't cut up a person in half (without going to prison), that means no more loans.

We can make it interesting and say no loans in or out for top earning clubs, and lower earning clubs must get free loans from the top earners. After all, they are developing the players for the top earners. In fact their squads need to be free and subsidized by the top earners. It's only right.
so city get a 6 year old, train him for 13 years provide him with education then let him go for free? the cost of educating training plus god know what else , and we have to give him away for zilch ,

is this a clarkie

Except it won't be the same for everyone because if Burnley don't get bought out then they can't spend the same as us... and why should they? It sounds harsh but in a free market economy you don't drive investment and improve businesses (which is what clubs are these days) by limiting what they can and can't do with their own money...

Are Saudi going to invest in Burnley (or anyone else) after these new rules come in? I doubt it...
