New PL financial controls | Clubs agree squad spending cap 'in principle'

the standard of the PL will decrease

Oh yeah?

How does the bottom clubs buying better players make the league worse? Particularly given how the financial strength of the bottom half of the table is the most cited reason for the PL’s success.

players will go elsewhere

Where are they going to go?

Will they be going to Spain, which has these same rules but stricter?

Will they be going to Germany with 50+1 prohibiting any investment?

Will they go to Italy, whose clubs haven’t got the money to own their own stadiums and where the average salary is just under half the Premier League?

Will they go to Ligue 1, which excluding PSG has the same average weekly wage as League 1?

No. Didn’t think so.

Lots of grand talk from you of doom and gloom, but there’s nothing behind it. You can’t even come up with a way it could happen.

Never heard or Real Madrid, Barca, Bayern, Juve, PSG or even Saudi? It’ll take time but the race to the bottom is on.

Those I’ve mentioned may not be in a position to take advantage at the moment but the Premier League couldn’t attract top players when it started but through good governance and financial planning it became the behemoth it is today.

Lots of other clubs/leagues will be pissing their sides at the PL self imploding.

Be a good boy and do what you normally do, start googling to fuck, you have some fucking weird views on football but I take your comments with a bucket of salt.

The problem here is you’re so ignorant of the football outside this country you don’t even understand how stupid your suggestions are.

La Liga has stricter spending controls. Serie A has no money, that’s why the average wage is under 50% of the PL. Germany has 50+1 stopping all investment.

Barcelona?! Sorry but you think that the PL clubs won’t be able to compete with Barcelona because of this rule which gives them a £520m/year max budget.

Do you know what Barcelona’s maximum allowed budget is this year? £170m.

So Barcelona with a budget £400m smaller are a threat?

And I’m supposed to take that as a serious suggestion? Perhaps you should start fucking googling instead of posting uninformed shite.

Agree with most of what you said but I don't see anything in these proposals that would mean lower placed teams could buy better players? The lower teams won't have more money and the top teams can't spend the money they have = worse league...?

More American shit in the PL we will all be able to take guns in soon
Quite. Abso-f**king-lutely.

Since the takeover of City by Sheikh Mansour in 2008 it's been clear to me and many other Blues I've discussed this with, that there have been two main drivers of the attack on City's successes in recent years:

* First, the malign, all-pervasive influence of American owners of Premier League clubs

and

*Second, the equally malign, all-pervasive influence of European clubs/administrators in seeking to obstruct City.. but also and at the same time, this has seen Euro Leagues jealous of the cash generated by the PL, attacking the very success of the English club game.

But of course, this latter reality gets lost in the narrative 'Let's all bash City..', especially when it comes to media (so-called) analysis of it all.

To me, it's as clear as the nose on Jimmy 'Schnozzle' Durante what the enemies of our club have been up to in attacking us. And what the European teams also would like to do to undermine our league's status as the best competition on the planet.

So now the herberts at the PL and various self-entitled clubs decide to do the work for the Euro clubs/leagues and begin shooting themselves in the foot.. you really couldn't make this nonsense up.

So sing it again, 'Schnozzle':

'Inka dinka dee/ Inka dinka doo..'

The only way the top 6 can spend more than the current £500ish million budget is if the bottom 3 get more money.

So if you’re a top 6 side you can either accept your maximum budget is £500mish forever, or you can grow the PL central revenues, rework the central payments structure, make sure the other 14 get their slice of the shared commercial money, and keep growing and spending more and more like they are now.

This isn’t about capping the top clubs spending, it’s about stopping the gap between the richest and poorest growing.

The only way it can ever hinder someone is if the top 6 owners keep trying to take all the money in every new deal. As long as they keep revenue shared the way they are now, the cap will always be above what everyone is spending anyway.

Now I see what your getting at...

I totally support the lower teams getting more money but I'm not sure it's the responsability of the top 6 to fund the lower teams... If you look at it from the likes of Burnley etc then yeah it's a mint idea but look at it from our owners point of view - you've spent over a billion building a footballing powerhouse with the best players, manager and staff etc only to be told you have to wind your neck in until Burnley make more money???

I suppose it depends on your political / social leaning as to if you agree with it or not...
