New striker?

Typical of the mard, spoiled brat that you are. Writing off Aguero, Jesus and Sterling, fucking unbelievable. 2 of the top mins per goal, and mins per goal/assist players in PL history, and probably the top scoring PL wide attacker of the last 4 years. All it takes is a relatively bad season in terms of silverware and idiots like you come crawling out of the woodwork slagging off all and sundry, with your sensationalist baseless bollocks. Internet fucking football. Top scorers this season? City by fucking miles. Name me a more potent 3 in any English club? Ffs the first and second most expensive forwards in history missed easy chances last night, it fucking happens. Your attitude is about as useful as Conlon and Creaney on a bad day. As for calling me a **** on an Internet forum that sums up the spineless nature of weeds like you. I for one hope the word is right that Sergio is progressing well from his surgery, and I look forward to seeing more of the same from him, and Jesus, and Sterling. But heaven forbid that they miss any clear chances, we wouldn’t want to see any entitled gobshite mard arses wetting their knickers

Well I thought perhaps you could have blamed being on the piss last night.

I am the last one to moan about not winning trophies, I am no spring chicken either. Perhaps you should take a step back and see who started the insults. So if you are so offended by being called a **** dont act like one.

Now I too hope to see more from Aguero but the fact is he is now prone to picking up injuries and common sense would suggest there is a danger he might well miss chunks of the season. As well as this may be his last season in which case getting his replacement in now would be wise given the time it can take for players to settle into this team.

As for Sterling and Jesus I have not said they are shit players but I have said they are not the finishers that the teams who have done better than us this last season. You have seen the stats showing that Sterling in particular is a bit of a flat track bully regarding his goal scoring. Yes of course people miss chances but teams who reach the CL final are more clinical than us.

You perhaps add to that given the amount of games we need to play the three of them would be stretched regardless so once again on that basis I would suggest our forward line needs freshening up as much as the defence does.

Oh I probably am a weed as I suffer from conditions that are not conducive to being an ageing hard nut such as yourself however i can absolutely assure you I would have no issue whatsoever in telling you my opinions to your face so dont be screeching about internet warriors and so on.

I’ve never really like Cavani but if there’s no transfer fee involved surely we could consider him for the next 18 months whilst the club identifies a suitable options?

Seen him have some dreadful games in my time. Not a big fan... over hyped.

The team plays maximum of 60 games/season

How many times will Jesus play on the left ?

If you choose Jesus to play on the left, you will have to bench real wingers ( whether its Sterling, Mahrez or Torres ) and you will keep them unhappy.

Its like playing Fernandinho as CB and benching real CBs ( Stones & Otamendy )

60 games is a lot.

There are some many things to consider with this.

First is the system we play - lets for ease of thinking about it call it 3 up top.....now traditionally this would be a central striker and two "wide" players - Pep plays this with 3 mobile players able to interchange (ideally) - However when he got to the club he is faced with an already establsihed legend in Aguero...now lots of people gleefully sat abck and said that Kun wasnt going to be able to adapt to what Pep wanted - dropping deep and being interchangeable - Agueor as he always does and to everyones delight at city proved the rest wrong and hs gone on to become an even better player. He is not perfect at it - His pressing aint great (but improved) he drifts wide, runs channels but he isnt adept at any of this as say an Mbappe or even Sterling BUT what he has over everyone is his clinical finishing and the variety of types of goals he scores/danger that he possesses...he can score from anywhere on the pitch

Now - how do you replace that.....do you go and get a goal scorer like him (not many around if ANY at all) or do us as fans, the club have to adapt.....do we get another Jesus/Sterling type player - top players who neither are anywhere near as clnical as Aguero (esp in the big moments)??????

Is there a striker that fits both moulds?

Haaland - is about as close to fitting both moulds I think (unless you are looking at Messi/Ronaldo and lets keep them out of the equation for now).

Kane - goal scorer yes - adaptable across the front 3 - not even close andI think he would struggle against the packed defences that we face every week but he doesnt when playign for spurs as teams set up differently playing against us than they do against spurs

Martinez - similar traits to Aguero (though looks Barca bound) but possibly a level or two below Aguero in finishing.

Mbappe - fantastic player, can certainly play across the front line - However he is very unlikely to ever come to us (having turned us down already once) and it would be interesting to see him play against those 10 man defences.

Or

Do we fins the false 9 - Harvetz, Felix - this type of player. Harvetz is virtually a chelsea player already, felix has struggled and his cost would be huge

On top of this then there is the question of Peps successor - we saw that when Pellers was here the club were already clearly planning with players purchased for Pep. Im sure the club will want to maintain a strong identity of playing but even managers that share that philosophy will have tweeks to it and may not want the false 9 (or the direct striker) or whatever.

There is certainly a change of the guard coming in a big big way over the next few seasons. Even if Pep extends for another 2 years by the time that is up we will have to replace Ferna, Kun, David Silva and possibly even the likes of Mahrez, Walker and maybe even KDB (he may want another challenge as he gets into his early 30's)

Its not always about wanting shiny new toys as easy as that is to throw at some people by others - there is a genuine concern that when Kun leaves (and possibly Pep) we will defintely need another forward....I think people are coming to realise that as good as Jesus, Sterling are they are not lead the line strikers...they are support strikers who can score 20+ a season but ONLY if the pressure isnt on them and that that pressure is taken by someone like the likes of Aguero....

If we dont get a striker this window my front 3 would be something like this

Jesus - Kun - Sterling

Rotating in and out of that would be Mahrez and Torres but for lets say a huge one off game the front 3 would be the one above

Personally IF we are looking at replacing Kun in the next 12 months it would be Haaland but we are going to face HUGE opposition for him and thats sometimes when we fail in the transfer market - or maybe we just dont want to get involved in bidding wars -either way we dont get our man in those situations

I agree with most of that (staying out of the personal argument between you and the other poster)

You could also suggest that we have refreshed our forward line with the addition of Torres.. he is a bit of an unknown - he could really add goals as well - we just dont know I guess.

Im in the camp that we do need another forward but we are on the cusp of that change and the timing of it is going to be very difficult- everyone is going to be after Haaland for instance and as much as Id love the lad with us I just dont see the club getting involved in a bidding war and like another poster just said B. Munich will already be tapping him up to replace Lewandowski so if we dont get him now (which we wont) we wont get him.
Getting someone in now means that they also might have to wait and a top class forward isnt going to want that...i know you mentioned the possibilty of injuries to Kun BUT that may not happen either....of course as any player gets older it is more likely but it may not

I can see your concerns - an injury to Aguero andI dont believe we are clinical enough - jesus and sterling are both particularly wasteful and dont put fear into oppostion defences

However we are in a transition period as well and we might just have to accept that.....losing the likes fo Kompany, Silva, Kun, Ferna all within 18 months of each other is HUGE and no club can replace those players all in one go...defence had to be a priority this year.

Maybe in 12 months time we will be talking about the next Haaland or Mbappe but he will be coming to us?
