New striker?

That’s not right. Sterling’s movement is fantastic & gets into numerous goal scoring positions every game. The issue is he doesn’t put enough of them away. He’s better than he was but miles away from being clinical. His mental strength is what Pep loves though - he never let’s the misses bother him & keeps going.

Honestly though, if say we’d pulled in a striker from the Championship there’d be fan riots & Txiki wouldn’t be safe on the streets. Unless they’re 16, 17, 18 we’d not bring someone in from there. Not saying it’s right it’s just impossible.
I agree Sterling is great, but when Aguero and Jesus are both out it is really only him making those runs into the box. Foden is often too deep same goes for Mahrez and KDB creates the chances.

We do but can’t or won’t pay big in this window. Short term solution while a longer term fix is identified
We should have been trying to identify a long term fix for a while. We'll probably leave it right up until Aguero leaves, then be stuck. Then we'll still refuse to pay the fee for the player we want and end up spending even more money keep trying cheaper options that aren't good enough.

Sterling pulls out of the England squad, good a weeks rest will do him the world of good!

Yet another transfer window closes and no striker brought in. Pep’s stubbornness will be the undoing of us.

We weren’t looking for one, next summer we will. Nothing to do with Pep. It wiil be planned and decided above him.

How is it baffling. Here’s a scenario, we want a top class expensive replace ment for Aguero next summer, we may or may not know who we want, that player may not be available now, he may be too expensive in the current climate, or he may cause problems if Jesus , Aguero and him are all available and one doesnt even make the bench.
Loads of possible reasons none of them baffling.

There will be even less money around next year for transfers, I think we are saving it for then, when we can easily trump any bid by another team, Barca are screwed, Mbappe to Madrid and we will blow anyone else out of the water for Haaland etc.

But FFP will most probably be back in play then, so we'll be frugal with our cash next summer

When was the last time we ‘blew anyone out the water’ for a player? It’s not our style.
We won’t sign Haaland we won’t pay the agent fees and deal with the specific agent anyway.

Fair point. It probably is made above Pep’s head. Doesn’t make it right though. There’s every chance we will be down to no strikers again this year. We will deliberately leave ourselves short again. Games will not be won because of this. Terrible planning.

Unless it’s good planning but longer term , just as plausible as I posted..

I’m convinced we will be back for Messi in January. Get a pre contract signed and then piss about with Barca for a token fee to let him go in Jan (with Garcia & maybe Zinchenko).

Convinced that’s why we haven’t gone for a striker.

We can agree a deal with the GOAT in less than three months. Why wouldn’t you?

City have signed Nahuel Bustos for a small fee and immediately loaned him to Girona. 22 year old from Argentine club Atletico Talleres.

Think he is worth a punt, to see how he does at Girona.

I think the striker position is tricky to negotiate in the club. Is there anyone better than Sterling who will be happy sitting on the bench in big games if Aguero is fit or Pep thinks Jesus' work ethic is needed, and with the club still having their eyes on Messi?
