New striker?

We NEED a striker in January. Watching the West Ham game showed how much. Aside from the dismal performance, no urgency, slow, predictable, no flare or creativity (worry when KDB doesn’t play) prodding around forever 90 mins with sideways and backwards passing. Never thought I’d say this but teams how found us out. We haven’t changed our style & we are no getting left behind. What team has ever won a title or champions league with a striker. It’s so obvious to see, how can Pep not!? Perhaps his time has come to go after this season, can’t see us winning champions league (be no where near it) and Premier league could be a struggle. I really hope we can turn it around over the next few weeks.... But here’s a few names we should be after if Pep leaves at the end of this season...
Eric Ten Hag or Poch
Haaland
L. Martinez

we will have no option but to pay big money for a new striker! jimenez is a good shout if we could not get haaland! we needed another striker in the summer anyway 2 is never enough and would take the work load of aguero! but the club know best! i cant see us getting a top striker in january!

Forward, cdm, lb and a AM is needed. 4 major areas require serious investment. Even with the finance, can the board deliver? Not if recent buys are any indication.

You are 100% spot on with the positions we need to strengthen. Don’t really agree about the recent buys as I think Ake is top and Dias has done reasonably well and clearly has leadership qualities. But I do feel that in general the board have completely fucked up the last few summer windows in that they have failed to address glaring issues in the squad which will cost us big trophies for a 2nd season running. And if Pep was the one driving the Rodri deal then he needs to take his fair share of the blame too because replacing Fernandinho in CDM with Rodri has been a major problem, Fernandinho was the heartbeat of our team during our peak.

The lack of forward planning in key positions by the Club is amateurish Is anyone at the level of Khaldoon and above actually taking notice?
We seem to have lost our strategic focus. Losing Laporte last year was unfortunate but we gambled not replacing Kompany and it wrecked our season. This year it’s no surprise that Mendy and Agüero are injured... the squad looks unbalanced and the spine looks weaker than it has for years. The players look worn out but our problems runner deeper than that and Messi won’t fix the issues within the squad. We need a rebuild unfortunately.

The fact we haven't given Delap a proper shot over this period is laughable. It was similar to when Pep was throwing in Sterling as a midfielder in a dead rubber champions league game because he couldn't bring himself to start Foden when he was clearly the best option at the time.

With Jesus and now Aguero out again, I would be starting him (like we should have done after he scored a fantastic goal on his debut). If he's the 'real deal' like it's been rumoured the club think of him, he should be thrown in the deep end and given some opportunities to actually force his way into this side.

We need to move away from this 'he's only 17, he's not ready yet' state of mind. If he's good enough, he's ready - he already has the physical tools to succeed at the senior level. Clubs like Dortumund have the same mentality and now have a core of exceptional young players who all started with them at a similar age - the same players this forum screeches about us signing.

Stop trying to persist with shoehorning an out of form Sterling in a central role or some ineffective false 9 setup with Foden, put a proper striker in there and actually give the lad a few consistent starting opportunities and see how he does.

The risk is minimal in my eyes as we're toothless in attack at the moment anyway even with our big players on the field. Have Delap offer us something different with his physicality along with the fact he's a genuinely quality goalscorer.

There's nothing to lose at this stage by playing him and it could be a Rashford moment for us whereby he takes his opportunities and never looks back, saving us god knows how much cash for a replacement for Aguero in the process.
