Everything else is a bonus.

There’s no way we’re replacing our best ever striker with 28 year old injury prone Danny Fucking Ings. Should be either Haaland or Jovic

Maybe we aren’t. Maybe Aguero stays, and we get Messi for a year or two. Maybe we don’t intend to play week in week out with a traditional stiker, if we get Messi we probably wouldn’t, so don’t want one that expects to play every week.
Truth is I have no idea of our targets nor our plans, none of us do. I do know I have no worries that there is a plan and it will probably be one that works.

Just thinking about the 6 for 3 forward positions if we exclude Aguero and Mahrez (presuming they leave at the end of the season) and if we signed Grealish (or anybody similar).

Isn't that loads of options...especially if someone from the youth could step up a bit over the season?

Maybe our big signing should be a Bernardo backup/alternative? Not an out and out striker?

Lukaku - He'd be a brilliant buy, first he's done it in this league so that takes away the adaption risk. Then the fact he's scoring for fun these days. Also think only Ronaldo in football is comparable to his 46gls in 47games(only 2 penalties) for his national team since 2016.

This. He’d be more than adequate as back up. Would be weird for us to buy two though, especially if we move for Messi also. Are other players being moved on maybe?

I thought the previous post about Lukaku was a joke but now I know this guy is having a laugh. Ings ? Too old, too expensive and way too over rated. I was watching the Southampton game at the weekend and thinking that I can’t believe people are actually talking about big money for this guy.

No but the idea of singing Ings on any level is not going to be enthusiastically received and I hope it is inaccurate specualtion.

Wondered when we would get linked to Lukaku. I think he would be a very good signing but I hope that we are going to go all out to get Haaland.

In many respects this is just more than signing a player, it is replacing a legend. No I dea who we will get and when I will leave that up to Pep and the gang. How I would like it to pan out would be

Aguero signs new contract
Following summer haaland sign
Year after thatvMessi goes to the states, along with serge
Haaland and jesus become city's front two. It isn't too much to ask is it.

That would be the ideal scenario for me too.

Don't know if he is to be trusted on City or not but I'm sure he was seen as a good source on Arsenal at one point so he may have some useful connections withing the game. I'm sure Tolmie can tell us if he is worth paying attention to.

Ings would be a good option depending on the cost. Maybe not as a regular starter but he’s clinical and HG. I think he’d bag goals for fun.

Certainly would be an underwhelming signing though compared to Haaland or Kane.

He’s been off the pace after coming back from a couple of injuries but he’s an instinctive finisher and should be playing for a top 6 club. Played a key role in Southampton’s form in 2020

Nah, Ings is a good player. Not world class, mind. But genuinely one of the better forwards in the league.

That said, we really could do better than Ings.

Ings wouldn`t make any sense at all. He thrives in Southampton since they`re a defensive side and he has acres of space to run into and use his pace, something he wouldn`t be able to do here. Nothing from what I`ve seen from him would make me believe he`s a good fit here. His passing, dribbling and link up play look below par, and he`s injury prone and already 28. Hopefully just some smokescreen for another target
