New striker?

Outside of the players in the poll, and other commonly discussed players like Isak and Nunez.

Giovanni Simeone, 26, Hellas Verona (on loan from Cagliari) and Argentina: 8 goals in 9 games this season.

Jonathan David, 21, Lille and Canada: 11 goals in 24 games this season.

Raúl de Tomás, 27, Espanyol: 7 goals in 12 games this season.

Arthur Cabral, 23, Basel and Brazil: 23 goals in 23 games this season.

Agustín Álvarez, 20, Peñarol and Uruguay: 23 goals in 37 games this season.

That striker at Celtic looks good Kyogo. bit early but seems to be one to keep an eye on.

I'm canadian so I'll chime in on Jonathan David.

Great player for Lille and Canada, this is the best team we have had in years to qualify for world cup.

But he isnt the kind of striker we need, alot more of a F9 or 10 for which we have so many already.

His brother Craig was alright for a time but proved to be sh1t.

I think we will come to regret it if we fail to sign a striker in January, i can't see Haaland moving then and so i would be inclinded to go for Vlahovich

Meh... I take a very different view.

We've made our bed for this season.

To be honest - as big a City fan as I am - we're the 3rd best side in the P/L. And we're already behind the top 2 sides. We're not as sharp as we were last season, and we lack a top striker - we create chance after chance but fail to convert.

Which is why I don't want us to sign some sort of overly expensive stop-gap temporary solution in January. Save the money instead for pursuit of a world class striker next season.

I’ve advocated Simeone before as a stop gap. Technically very good and prepared to work his socks off, which you need in our team. He’s also one of those players that can hit the target from a minimum number of chances. Would also add Julian Alvarez, River Plate, to the list as a younger possibility.

3rd best based on what exactly?

We have beaten Chelsea, should have beat liverpool and just schooled the rags. Chelsea just dropped 2 points at home to Burnley (Southampton equivalent) and they are definitely going to lose another game (Palace game).

We have been slow starters past few years but the quality comes through in the end. Now we are out of the Carabao we have a bit more rest, our sheer amount of games killed us last year and we still won 2 trophies and our first CL final.

As for this thread, some of the names thrown about are nowhere good enough and if we wanted someone who scores roughly 50% of the time and works hard we will just put Jesus back up top.

There are only nine league games before the January window opens, and of those nine games only two are against teams currently in the top ten (West Ham United [h] and Wolverhampton Wanderers [h]), so unless a succession of prospective victories turns into a succession of draws, I just cannot see us signing anyone.

Even if you think Haaland is better and we could get him in the summer ? Got to look at the bigger picture not the next half a season.

Don’t think we are behind 2 teams think we’re at least level with chelsea and better than liverpool. Agree , no short term January panic buy tthough, unless it’s for the player we want.

The problem is who do we drop to make way for a striker? We have Torres coming back soon. Better to spend more time teaching Jesus, Sterling, Mahrez and others how to hit the back of the net more frequently.
