New striker?

The problem is who do we drop to make way for a striker? We have Torres coming back soon. Better to spend more time teaching Jesus, Sterling, Mahrez and others how to hit the back of the net more frequently.
It depends if the next evolution of City and Pep's team will be a proper number 9.

Jesus, Sterling, Mahrez, Foden, Torres and Gundogan all got to double figures last year so the spread of goals isn't an issue. We have started a bit slower this year but no reason they can't get there again.

Does Pep want to play as we are or is he doing it out of necessity?

Vlahovic and Haaland would point towards that being our new direction but lets see.

I know this subject has been discussed to death but after the Man united game I was seriously thinking that a striker could have added more goals for us!

If we get through the next 2 months and stay top 3 in the league, progress in the CL to the QF and progress in the FA Cup, would getting a striker in January be the difference of us winning the League and CL or it won't make a difference and we should just wait till Summer.

I truly believe if we are in a good position by NYE then we should go for a striker in January that will help us get over the line and win everything we can win!

Unless it’s a big name like Haaland then no, we would be buying him & prepping for the next 8-10 years & I’m sure Pep has a formation/plan for when we do sign somebody, but I wouldn’t push for a stop gap. I’d argue the current formation/line up is great at beating the top teams, not so much against the lesser sides where a frontline striker with a bit of physicality is a must, Torres has been a big loss in those games we’ve dropped points in recently

Ask after a win: Summer

Ask after a defeat: January

Ha ha yes it's subjective. As dominant and comprehensive as our performance was at the swamp it could easily have ended up 0-0, imagine how annoying that would have been. If we can get something a bit different upfront, someone clinical and/or physical at the right price I'd say go for it. Torres shows potential but now he's injured. If we feel in a couple of years he will be the answer then a stop gap will do. Put a Tevez or Aguero in this side and we will be as good as unstoppable. The problem is finding them.

Pep ball is killing off the striker position.

There really is a dearth of hardworking, clinical forwards.

cheeky bid for Salah if he’s stalling on a new deal?

Be great to get Dzeko back for a season or 2, play him in 10 - 15 or so games against teams that park the bus, bet he would get us a good few goals, would be cheap, he is a proven striker, we all love him already, whats not to like (I'm sure someone will tell me the answer!!!!)

The Bosnians

If we have a long term target coming anyway then the sooner he (or she) joins the better. Players need time to adapt. So I'd very slowly ease them in this season (probably not making a huge impact) so that they are rearing to go at the start of next season.

Anyway this season is over. We are out of the League Cup. What else is there really?
