Ok man you're the only one who gave a decent question a decent answer so respect to you. You say "on the whole he's done a great job". Can you expand on that and tell me what he's done and why it's been great ?
I suppose when you have relatively unlimited funds - buying and attracting players, on the face of it, isn't that great an achievement. That said, the signings of KDB and Sterling signalled for me as sea change in how the club is now viewed and how we are putting together an infrastructure that enhances that. Txiki is part of the team that has facilitated this. The negotiations and way Txiki went about those transfers was dignified and for the most part stealth like - again others will argue the price kept going up and ultimaterly we met that price. That is why, although I respect him, the Deity like levels of adulation have been at times unhealthy. Everyone should be open to scrutiny. Blind, unadulterated faith, whilst admirable, is never healthy.
The signing of Pep, a man who could have his choice of clubs is of course wonderful and shows how far we've come and is in no small part directly because of Txiki courting and persuading him.
Without Txiki I doubt there would be Pep.
