New years eve

We always used to get together at my Gran’s house on Horton Rd (a couple of streets over from Maine Rd) with the local aunts and uncles.

She’d get out a big canister of the big, old pennies and played cards (even the kids), ate and drank, and my Gran always used to let us open the door at midnight to welcome in the New Year.

All the neighbors would be on their front step and we’d all wish each other a Happy New Year!

Ah, the good old days!

Happy New Year to all Blues, wherever the day finds you, and may 2025 be a happy, healthy and prosperous year for you all.

Always been an overrated and invariably shit night. Everybody used to force it, you'd be almost guaranteed to see trouble as there's too many people unable to handle their booze forcing it down their neck once a year. then all the pubs and clubs would rinse you for every penny they could despite the fact they're begging you to come in for free a week or so beforehand. Local pubs, town, didnt matter, it always ended up an expensive disappointment.

Best NYE's I've had over the years have either been something organised like warehouse project which i did a few times over the years and was always class or some kind of house party.

Makes a change having no city around it this year. remember some mammoth efforts in recent years. Doing palace away 12.30pm nye and surviving the day making it until midnight when youve been drinking since 3am for the trip down to london was brutal.

there was a late-ish kick off away at everton one NYE with a rush back for nye plans and one time going straight through one nye celebrations for swansea away early kick off, that one was an absolute killer. Made them memorable at least.

Long since stopped even contemplating doing anything now, if theres no city, nye to me is just a night where I've got to get my dog through the fireworks

Summed it up well with that one phrase “Everybody used to force it” mate.

I’ve had some brilliant nights out around New Year, and club nights in between Xmas and New Year, but very rarely on the night itself.

Start early and end early, not bothered about seeing in the New Year. I always like to start the new year by getting up to the ski hill first thing while everyone else is lounging with their hangovers

I remember one mad NYE at Love To Be Sheffield mid 90s.
Everywhere I turned I knew someone from Manchester in there
