New York City FC Thread (new away kit P245)

This is the source of the "problem" something I picked up on the first minute I stepped into Grand Central.

Many NYCFC fans are fans of other British clubs, particularly the bigger clubs who compete domestically with City, and in recent years we've been dominating.
Fans of Arsenal have venom in their fingers with regards to city, typing many insults aimed at city due to us signing many of their players in recent seasons.

They never seemed bothered when we signed David Seaman from them though did they.... They probably weren't even supporting Arsenal then anyway.

It came apparent for me that people failed to put aside their British club fandom whilst discussing NYCFC and MCFC issues.

Ok mate ;-)

So he's a Liverpool/NYCFC fan?

More clubs than Tiger Woods the Shermans!
Eh. It's a different culture. Would you rather not have my money just because I liked LFC before and still like them now?

I didn't have an MLS club before now. I went to some matches at RBNY, but the only club I supported was LFC. Now, we have a club in NYC. I fully expect NYC to overtake LFC in my expenditures and emotional investment. I get to make maybe one or two LFC matches per year due to cost and travel. With NYC, I get to be there every time.

I don't expect understanding beyond recognizing that the NYC fans who support LFC as their EPL team don't bring their LFC support into board discussion on NYC. We don't make arguments over what the club should do based upon LFC, nor should we. The same goes for anyone else supporting any other EPL club.

We have a very different sporting culture. We, or at least I, don't view every benefit to NYC as a critical detriment to our other club. Your socialization is different. I respect that. But respect that we have no problem distinguishing between our clubs/leagues. It doesn't make us plastic, nor does it make our money or attendance less important.

It's a difference you'll have to either accept or continue to be angry about. It's up to you. I can't tell you how to feel. It's up to you whether you want to embrace a new, co-existent model of football/soccer. CFG, for all of their noted flaws, seems to be fine with it and even encourage it, as I can vouch for first hand experiences I've had with management. They are t looking to require devotion to the entire group. If it happens, they will gladly accept it. But it's not a pre-requisite to forego all other interests in order to fall in love with a single club.

Again, I respect where you folks come from and your belief, rightfully, that your club is most important in the group. But I think it would be better for all of us if you fellows would acknowledge the evolution that your own ownership is facilitating. We don't share everything, but we share enough to be respectful.

Very true. But go and find where someone makes an argument that NYC should accept something because it's best for Arsenal and it isn't poo-pooed by everyone?

That's my only point, and the only one (I think anyway) Dan and other mods are making.

Edited: here's an example - wasn't Pirlo rumored to be an LFC or even Chelsea target? We have a 100+ page thread about it, and not one post from one person arguing for him to choose one of those clubs over NYC. If that dedication isn't genuine, it's at least respectful enough from members not to bring outside interests to the board.

Again, full respect to you guys and your style of support. It's enviable. We don't have the luxury (or heartbreak) of growing up with a local club.

Your not fooling anyone Midas ,you hate all things Mancunian and have never been respectful to any city posters on nycfc forum.I have no idea why your posting stuff on here that is completely the opposite to what you post on a daily basis on the nycfc. But please feel free to carry on .

Really? I just posted an example. But it doesn't fit your small minded opinion of what things should or should not be. No wonder you got quickly and roundly runnoft.

Now, if you mean Man U, I absolutely slag them off every chance. I fucking loathe them and anyone who claims them I presume to be a dickhead. It's persuasive more than dispositive, but goddam I hate man united.
