New York City FC Thread (new away kit P245)

Another away win 1-2 with Villa brace.

If NYCFC wins its next match and the other 3 or so teams above it lose points next week, and provided Orlando and Toronto lose to the other league's team, NYCFC can climb to 4th place. I'm not even sure how many games are in a season, but it makes for some good watching in the absence of City games.

Think its 34 games they play,if so plenty of time to pull it round.I love watching New York and Melbourne and cheering them on.

Uhm... No one was banned for no reason. Everyone I've ever banned was private messaged, warned numerous times and then banned. Temporarily. Came back and then banned permanently.
As far as CFG is concerned 99% of users will back CFG. This far into the season most are calling for CFG to have more involvement as our coaching staff are a bunch of dimwits.
The issue lies in joining a forum made for and only for NYCFC in order to push a different agenda.
I won't deny any member joining from Manchester their loyal allegiance to MCFC as they've grown with this club from birth. However, joining our forum which is a melting pot of members who support clubs from all over the world and wanting to 'defend' MCFC more than you want to discuss NYCFC will in due time get you banned.
Same as here. If I came here and replied to every comment that shit on NYCFC or our fan base and started crap in every read that did this I would soon be banned. Despite the fact we are linked by ownership neither forum should be subject to the others members coming over for the sole reason of 'defending' their club.
Which, might I add, wouldn't be necessary if it wasn't for the Lampard debacle. That pissed a lot of people off and rightfully so. However our anger wasn't directed at YOU it was directed at ownership. Playing without Lampard this season has obviously left us in a bit of a rut.
Solo, met you in person at the Mad Hatter the day before the game. Said hi, took the City game in. Enjoyed the atmosphere.
Been following MCFC since I got into EPL about 5 years ago (when it was finally readily available here in the states). Which in turn got me involved in NYCFC. Took an interview with Mark Booth and Sharon, both lovely people, and had nothing but good things to say. Being at Mad Hatter was thrilling. For someone whose only dreamed of going to the Etihad to hear songs being sung by even that many people in person was something else.

I'm sure any criticism towards our infant fan base you may have is justified. But to shit on the forum is not. Everyone is welcome as an NYCFC supporter as that's who the forums are intended for. For those who do have allegiances elsewhere we do have topics for teams in football discussion (as NYCFC has one here) and talk there is welcome. MCFC, Liverpool and Everton are just a few of the clubs with their own threads and that's where discussion of those teams is asked to take place and stay. Anyone that wants to bring their team into NYCFC topics shouldn't be on an NYCFC forum. If you do not register with the intent to discuss the club the forum was built for then you do not belong and you shouldn't be surprised that you were banned.
Do we have some pricks? Yes. A-holes? Certainly. But they're there for the right reasons and held in check when/if they cross the line with one of our own supporters.
The supporter culture here is non-existent. Most of the people attending NYCFC matches sat stiff and Yankees games, Knicks, Rangers and so on their whole lives. Aside from a USMNT game here and there. Im proud that the fan base is where it is now. Averaging one of the highest attendances in the MLS with a supporters section that's at the very least trying every game and learning. It'll get better before it gets worse.

And as a last note, as far as I know none of our members have come here and trolled as NYCFC supporters. Why would it be so much to ask that no one from here do the same? If the intention isn't to discuss said team with inability to leave other allegiances at the door, why bother joining? We have plenty of English members who are actively involved in the community and have never been warned/banned since they're there for the right reason. Shouldn't be so difficult to understand.
We both know the forum is welcoming to those who shit on MCFC and bans those who shit on the beloved Liverpools, rags & gooners. TO deny it is to lie to yourself. Call it for what it is. I was banned for calling out the bullshit. Permanently I might add.

Actually, I will defend Dan and the other board mods. Also, you guys are too much fun not to come over. I appreciate the wit and humor of many here. Although, you have some slow ones who've visited Dan's board, you mostly are an entertaining bunch, and you have a great team that I enjoy watching very much when they are playing well.

It's pretty simple really, and it makes sense if you're running a message board. If you're on a team's board, and your purpose posting or the rationale of your post is NOT what is best for said team, it pretty much makes you a target.

Anyway, slag me off if you want. But I think you are absolutely entitled to want what's best for your team, as are those of us on the NYC board. I'd figure that's common knowledge and behavior.

As far as being grateful, well come on. What do you want? A thank you letter? If you need that, then you'll likely continue being disappointed.

FYI - since my name gets brought up here, here's the sort of slagging off I've done to MCFC fans, and I posted this at the absolute apex of anger about the Lampard debacle (about which all reasonable people were angry about the CFG decision, not about you guys wanting to keep a player who was helping your squad. That's just reasonable behavior for any supporter, as is the NYC reaction).

I know there is a general distaste for those who come here via MCFC (pretty deservedly tbf, and I could probably be faulted/credited as an early ringleader/voice against many of them), but I hope to not run off the ones who actually recognize that our board is for NYCFC discussion and try to offer meaningful participation via insightful, sympathetic and/or hopeful posts.

I think @mrplow2000 has been pretty fair in his points, and he is trying to cheer us up. I know, it's not really possible at this moment due to the actions of CFG. But I don't want to come as attributing those faults and flaws to everyone who supports MCFC. I want to continue to have varying viewpoints and discuss them (somewhat) maturely, but as long as posters offer respect and civility, I will do the same, notwithstanding some good-natured ribbing.

That said, I'll be leading the charge to berate/ban those who condescend and/or post hostile messages solely designed to rile up the board.

With all that being said, I hope those people here from MCFC for more positive purposes will not be too turned off by my or others' tone and disregard for your posts. I think it's fair to say we all feel jilted and will be cautious to outright defensive in the near to medium term. If you allow folks the patience to deal with their feelings in their own time and in their own way, I think you'll find we have the beginnings of a fun and entertaining online community that fosters meaningful and intelligent (and some not so meaningful or intelligent) discussion on our club, MLS and soccer in general.

Just wanted to get that off my chest. Carry on, all you yank ECs and Mancunian wankers.

Just had a quick look, we seem to either get hammered or indifference. I don't think this will matter long term though, as time passes kids who support New York won't pick the Liverpool's, rags and Chelsea's of this world, they'll pick City.

While no one can predict the future, you're likely correct. It is much easier to supporta club playing players you know well. If nothing else, that might be worth some Ami supporters

I think the whole thing is smart. If done well, it will be good for all of the clubs. It was a shit start though, solely due to CFG, and that's the only reason all.of the animosity exists.

Banned.

No not really. Because we aren't cunts.

Fucking hell mate, is this still rumbling on?
It's only football (soccer) and the internet, chill out - life's way too short.

No. It's not. I was citing an example of what people seen to be so worked up about.

That's where the hatred started and where the criticism seems to sten from. If people want to be offended, they'll find a reason. If they need to be respected by a message board, they'll find empty heartache

I think both sides make a lot of sense when they approach from a *my feelings are based on what is best for my team".

Some people don't. They expect reverence or something similar. That shit just won't happen. We just wanted a team in the city. The fact that CFG owns it is pure bonus because they have football personnel already in place.

And if you need someone from our shit minor league over here to grant you reverence in order to feel pride, or if you feel as though it is owed you, I'd ask you how much you pay on our player salaries, stadium rent, pr campaigns, or why it is even important to have us dumb MLS fucks respect you given that your tean is as fucking great as is.

And it is. That's not sarcasm. You have a great team. If you need us as NYC fans to meet your imaginary standard or offer some sort of deference or appreciation to your club, of which you pay exactly none of the operating costs, then that is way more your problem as a supporter than it is ours.

You guys have a great team. Why fuck with us and our efforts to build a good little fanbase for what is a very comparatively minor league. . It is really not flattering, man.
