It has been bloody horrible.

More minutes watching players rolling around on the pitch than passing the ball on it.

The “pitch” itself doesn’t help.

I am a supporter of VAR but these scenarios (players crowding the referee demanding review, endless replays, long delays of the match) are what I am frightened it will become.

Also, I have watched a few MLS matches in person (NYCFC and others on my travels) after VAR was implemented, and it is an absolute killer of the experience for those in the stands, as you can’t really celebrate goals as you are just waiting for VAR to immediately rule a player offside to disallow the goal (they no longer flag immediately so that the play can run its course and then VAR decides if the goal should stand) or for a five minute review to determine if there was a minute infringement in the build up.

That was a goal, how its not given after a review I have no idea.

Agreed.

VAR could be the answer to all our prayers or, on this evidence, will just make things worse.

And it really could destroy the live experience.

NYC are playing so poorly, I've not watched them much recently but they have regressed badly from this viewing.

They had a great start to the season, then a big fall off middle-to-end, and then have played fairly well in the last few matches.

But they look horrid this half. I wouldn’t be surprised if they go down a man in the second half, either. Very contentious thus far.
