New York City FC

If this is how Vieira prepares his team for rivalry games, he can forget about managing at the top. This isn't a super difficult league, especially with the money NYCFC has at its disposal.

Didn't take long.

They are taking to our club ethics with aplomb.

Is there really much (any) inequality in MLS finances?
There is, just not nearly as much as European leagues. The main difference is in the DP (designated player). These players don't count toward the salary cap.

Some teams will buy more modest DPs. NYCFC went all out and got Pirlo, Villa and Lampard. That's well beyond what most MLS teams can afford.

There's no real inequality at all - all teams are bound by the same salary cap. There's the DPs, and some teams barely pay them anything whereas others pay theirs millions, but the rest of the squads are all supposed to be equal. The problem is that in a league where you can't buy players off each other, only trade, and with salaries so low for bringing in talented foreigners, it's hard for new teams to bring their teams up to scratch quickly because they spend their first few seasons just using the offcuts from other teams' squads.

Ah right, thanks. I do feel that Pirlo and Lampard together isn't a great way to use 2 of those 3 slots.
