Newcastle (a) post match thread

At least we can focus on the cups and stop trying to chase Liverpool. That race is over and your kidding yourself if you think we have a chance.

The whole squad inc pep looked all over the place tonight and not for the first time this season.

Newcastle was poor it was our attitude and poor passing with no pace that cost us.

One of city’s worst performances for a long time especially attitude wise.

I will take 2nd, 2 cups and a good summer transfer period.

Head up blues. Let’s re group and take it out on the teams in the cup.
If there's anything

That's a poor stance to take imo.
Remember Slippy G.
Palace 3 Dippers 3
AND 93:20!

Completely agree with this. We can dwell on past mistakes and look at the points we’ve dropped that we shouldn’t have, or we can look at what’s ahead of us. 5 points isn’t all that much and we have 14 to play. I’m not saying the title will be ours, but we’re certainly not out of it just yet.
5 points is easily doable but only if we cut out displays like against the Bar Codes. One more like that and we are toast but three wins in a week and maybe the dippers drawing again and Klipperty will start to shit himself big time.

Watching back their 1st goal i cant believe how passive stones and laporte were. They just watched him strike the ball. Need more aggressive defending than that. I dont think vinny would have ball watched like that.

Bad, bad day at the office. It is clear we need to mix in some younger, hungrier players with this squad. We can't win back-to-back titles only playing guys making 150k+ a week.

You cannot tell me there's no room for Foden in this team. What is the risk? We just lost to Newcastle FFS
Foden's turn will come.
He is being patient.
So should you be.
In Pep we trust.

City didn't lose because an ex-dipper boss is manager of Newcastle now or because we hadn't lost to Newcastle since 2005 just as we din't lose the cup final of 1981 because it was the year of the rooster/cockerel in China! "The omens" don't decide football matches any more than the length of the grass or the width of the lines did against Liverpool. City didn't play well enough to win and did play poorly enough to lose. As many on here have said not one player was anything more than a shadow of himself so our "first choice eleven" turned in a performance that was way below expected. Kyle Walker was poor and doesn't even look like last year's player. Reports that KdB was back to his imperious best looked very premature. Sergio seemed to have put his concrete boots on. And so on ... These three are not the only, or even the main under-performers. Even Pep seemed rather downbeat and not really surprised by the performance; perhaps he had seen signs in training? Last night at least limited the damage to 5 points and thus 2 results but we will have to play a great deal better at the week end. Come on City!

I am seriously trying to be, but as the season rolls on I am growing more and more frustrated. I am not questioning Pep, nor am I thinking I am smarter than him, but do you not think he should be playing more? I am not saying week in and week out, but surely he can get a little more PL minutes?!

And we think he is being patient but he's a smart lad who keeps his head down - it doesn't mean we know what is going on in his head. Maybe he is looking at Sancho and wondering if it makes sense sticking around?

He has just signed a new 6yr deal,he wouldn't if he could not see his path as a city player
