Newcastle (A) Post-Match Thread

He was better today going forward but his crossing is woeful.
We haven't had a decent left back for years.
I thought about this the other day - who was out left back just before 2008? It wasn’t Ball was it? But since then we’ve signed Sylvinho, Bridge, Clichy, Kolarov and Mendy I think (missing any?) and none of them have been anywhere near as good as the Zabaleta or even Walker has at right back.

Terrific performance and job done, slightly frustrating at our inability to convert more of our chances.

Lots of very good performances particularly the midfield.

Pathetic from Carroll and Joelinton, couple of ****s.

I’ve really got a feeling that young Phil is going to be difficult to keep out of the starting 11 next season. Every game now he just looks like he belongs in that company.

He doesn’t just look like he belongs, he stands out when he’s on the pitch, which is saying something given our quality of players

Is there any point in playing the semi finals at Wembley? The only reason they do now is for the ticket money. Might as well play both at Villa Park if there’s no fans allowed. Make sense considering it’s two Manchester teams against two London teams as well.

I thought Mason was excellent today...

With no away fans screaming at him to get out of the way, he could just quietly

get on with his job at continually blocking our passing lanes. Unfortunately for

him, whilst accomplishing this, he found himself in the rare position of being in

the most advantageous position to see the two shoves in the back of Jesus....

In fairness it was a brilliant spot for the penalty, I didn’t see anything first time of viewing

Great performance. Impressive throughout (apart from the Generals brain fart and some poor defending from Benji) Gundo and Kev as twin pivots worked well. Raheem looked good second half. Gabby works so hard but could do with a goal.
Another Wembley semi!

Good luck with that, how else can they favour 2 London clubs ?

I disagree He was very poor before covid and has totally lost confidence needs to get his mind right.

He simply needs a run of games after being out for 2 years. He’s not played consistently for a long time and truth is, he’s actually done ok since the restart apart from that error against Chelsea. There’s no one we have who would do any better in that position either.
