Newcastle (A) | Wed 27th Sept | EFL Cup | Post Match Thread

Sky bigging up a 3rd round toon victory for the ages, in a cup no-one gives a shit about.

Can anybody name the teams that got through the 3rd round of the Spanish/Italian/German/French/Dutch equivalent of our fizzy cup?

Nah, didn't think so.

Yawn.

Didn’t see enough from Phillips! He made 112 passes and had a very respectable 91% pass completion.
Problem is a lot of those passes were a yard behind the player or not fast enough to feet. They can be completed passes but still shit passes. Not slagging the bloke just saying stats can be deceptive

He might yet start at the weekend...
It’s not in our interests to isolate anyone now, as we simply cannot rule out the possibility of more injuries, though I do think you might be right.
He won’t start another game this season, unless we have dead rubbers in the league at the end.

Brilliant first half, young lads held their own down the right, weak link was always Gomez, second half they strengthend along with them knowing they could be in our faces very physical at times too much and get away with it, disappointing we lost but prefer it to be here than later down the line in other comps

Was all a bit blunt wasn’t it? No real goal threat aside from Alvarez in the starting 11 despite being full of lovely footballers.

If Haaland starts, we’re 2-0 up by HT.

Oh well, just another treble this season instead of a quadruple.
We've won 2 quads tbf. lets not get greedy

Ref was shocking sky were embarrassing. Grealish be fair to him he’s been injured. Oscar very promising indeed. Rico has to learn from this so a good run out from him. Phillips needs to step up. Pep is Legend
