They've got us in the League cup and the group of death in C/L these boys will struggle sorry, hope I'm wrong and they keep the SCUM out of the top 4.
I have never believed the hype over Howe. Just because he is an English manager, then he’s up there? A work colleague (blue) says he’s a top manager and I would say to him, “would you like him as our next manager?” and he’d hesitate. In other words he’s ok so long as he’s not our manager because he’s not good enough and that’s why I agree with you, Newcastle will get a new manager/coach in and they will start to win things.Just not good enough to beat the top sides.
Truly do believe, when the time comes to replace Howe for a more established manager they will win trophies and beat the bigger teams in the league.
Anyone watched the Amazon doc yet?
Interesting analysis and I admire your passion. I'd say though that it's only 4 games in, you've actually been unlucky having to play the teams you have. The LiVARpool result was all important - you should have won the game and then the start is reasonably good and a basis to build from.I'm angry, more about performances than results as we're only down 1 point on the same games played last season. I was angry with the way that we played against you. Not because I thought that we could or would win, but because we kept repeating the same things over and over again. We were so passive that it was embarrassing. I know that you could have ripped us apart if we’d gone too bold but we didn’t have to, we just had to try and change things.
I thought that Howe was right to make changes against Liverpool because they were coming back into the game, I thought that we needed to tweak a couple of things but the changes made were crazy. I would never have brought Longstaff on as he’s shite. We were winning 1-0 against Liverpool when he came on and we were 1-0 down against Brighton and we let in two goals in both games after he came on. He’s slow, he rarely tackles and rarely shoots.
I don’t know if anybody has watched him in the opposition box but you can usually see a hesitation as if he’s having to think before doing anything and he quite often goes to where the ball was rather than to where it’s going. Watch him the next time you watch us play. He does cover loads of ground, slowly and he can get into positions which prevent passes going through us so he does have a purpose, just not much of a one.
Favourites getting picked regardless of performances just because of where they were born.
No rotation so far despite poor performances in the hope that things magically sort themselves out.
No Plan B when things are not working.
The team playing their first game together during the first game of the season. We knew that our midfield would be Joelinton, Bruno and Tonali and we had 7 pre-season games yet I don't think they ever featured together unless I have missed a couple of minutes during those game.
Howe has put himself under pressure for now and I hope he can turn things around and to do that we have a lot of games coming up so he will be forced to make changes. He needs to do something because he already has some people calling for his head and the calls will grow if things don't improve.
I must admit that I laughed when Howe was saying that we needed 2 teams of 11 this season as he only seems to change starting 11’s when he has to. Yesterday, Brighton made 3 unenforced changes, we made one enforced change and started Joelinton who was clearly not fit enough to play. I understand that he probably did want to start but it’s the managers job to protect players from themselves and to field a fit starting 11.
From our starting 11 so fay this season Pope has not looked right and I don’t know if he’s still worried about his hand after having had the ligaments operated on at the back end of last season which meant he missed a lot of pre-season only playing twice and not looking comfortable in those games.
Tripper is starting to look 32 going on 33, his passing is losing its accuracy and his freekicks and corners are more often poor than not.
Schar is starting to look his age and he needs to be the next upgrade.
Botman is fine.
Burn is far too slow, has the turning circle of a battleship and his passing is always backwards or sideways because he knows he’s limited, his positional sense is terrible, and I think he wanders to get away from danger areas to leave them to others. I don’t know why but he turns up at times on the right wing when his position is left-back, it’s baffling. Against Liverpool he was playing left-back yet he was to the right of Schar at times, Schar is our right centre-back.
Targett is far too slow and we knew that when we bought him. He knows his position well and can tackle and pass, pace screws him.
Tonali is fine and needs to be integrated into our central midfield 3, they need to learn to play together and our best chance of doing that has passed us so they have to learn on the job which is not ideal. Tonali should already be taking just about all of our deadball kicks but he's not, one of Howe's favourites is wasting them. I watched Tonali before he came to us and he was lethal at putting balls on to the penalty spot from any position when meant the keepers can't come out. I have no idea why we're not doing this and getting people to attack that area instead of standing between 1 to 3 metres of the goal-line, it's a puzzle asn it's as if nobody watched him before buying him.
Bruno has not been his self so far and I put that down to the midfield not knowing each others game enough. The same goes for Joelinton but we’re not getting him right as his biggest attribute is when he gets up to pace which takes him 4 or 5 strides which doesn’t work when playing in a tight midfield.
Gordon has looked to be our best player so far.
Isak is a good player but we’re not feeding him and he probably plays better when him and Wilson are being switched in and out of the team as it keeps both players fresh and hungry.
Almiron is has had his purple patch and is unlikely to go through one again. He does a lot of work but we need him to either set others up or get goals. Playing him on the right is mental as he has to come away from the byline when he gets there as he’s so one footed.
To me, Joelinton looks like a version of Rodri and would be best suited to DM. Bruno isn't a DM and is wasted there as he is good.
The rest I would agree with. They need a starting centre forward. Isak is really good but not PL centre forward. Was never a fan of Trippier in open play, so 2 fullbacks needed.
I hope he can rack up some points until the Jan window opens. I was counting on them kicking on.

I watched quite a bit of that game and your play in the last 30 yds wasn't good enough although Almiron hit the post. Other than that he was back to the Almiron Grealish took the piss out of. Klipperty Klopp was clever with the subs but for Nunez to have all that space against 11 was criminal.
Think the Toon expectation needs to be realistic - you don't automatically go from 4th to 3rd or higher- its a fucking hard job to make 4th again.
And I agree about your midfield, they look too samey to me.
Oh and BTW- Gordan is a dirty bustard. Should been red carded against us
Hall looked very good when he played against City in the cup, think he will do really well for you. We've brought in the two fullbacks, Livramento on the right and Hall on the left. Both have huge potential and I think they'll show it once they're starting games. My main concern about Livramento is his potentially dodgy knee. Hopefully it has fully healed.
