Newcastle Thread - 2023/24

Ive nothing personally against newcastle but It's very interesting to finally sit back and watch the penny drop for another fanbase.

It was fast tracked in as a direct attempt to stop us from becoming what we are today but it also ensured the gate was firmly sealed behind us and nobody else would be allowed to do what we did.

Every club outside the then big 4 that voted for ffp signed away their future and any hope of winning things that day. Newcastle fans are now seeing this, I hope all the other clubs in favour of ffp get billionaire investment and cannot spend it so they too can see what they voted for.

When City are cleared, ffp will be gone, with City held up as the reason why - ‘ineffective’
And the fans of the red shirts will nod and agree - ‘yes, that’s the reason ffp failed, it didn’t stop City’… and the penny might just drop for them as well, the acknowledgment that ffp was for one purpose only to stop City (and anyone else daring to break the cozy cartel stitchup).
They’ll never acknowledge that ffp was chucked in the bin because it started affecting the actual red shirt clubs negatively, due to their own arrogance and stupidity.

How can any self respecting supporter not know how their club voted on FFP? Especially at the point your club becomes affected by it?

Could you imagine the fuss if fans would have had the vote instead of greedy owners?

Don’t think it’s affected Liverpool too negatively. But United and Arsenal it definitely has/is.

I really don’t know, but he’s done a lot better than many on here thought he would, and he’s dealing with a crazy injury list that would test any coach..

alot of it depends on how long term the saudis are in it for, if they want a trophy theyll bring in mourinho who will prob win them a trophy but destroy the club for the next 5 years, if they are in it for the long haul theyll either stick with howe or go for a de zerbi or a potter who i dont think are significantly better and then let them build for a while

I don't think any manager can do it, they are not allowed under the current rules to spend above their means. FFP needs to be taken out the back door and shot before the barcodes have any chance of keeping up with us and the rest.

ffp is failing because it hasnt worked as intended which was to keep the red tops at the top so they might scrap it BUT even if you take it out it wont matter because the landscape has now shifted because it truly isnt just about money anymore, back in the 80s and 90s when the dippers and rags did have more money than everybody else it mattered but now everybody has money, do you think we couldnt have gone 105m for rice if we wanted to, course we could, so could psg, so could madrid, so could newcastle, so could the dippers and the rags if there was no ffp but we decided he wasnt worth that kind of money, now everybody has money and its no longer the dream to play for the rags and the dippers so good management is just as if not more important than money.

Newcastle can't invest right now because of FFP, if they do invest they will be punished.

i thoroughly agree it changes everything, what im saying is that even if you get rid it doesnt necessarily immediately make newcastle an immediate superpower

Imagine the barcodes being released though, spending huge amounts or at least not being hindered by wage restraints and the like?

oh it would be hilarious i thoroughly agree but i do think theyd be like us when we first started in struggling to get people to come there and even if they did what it be worth it, how much would they need to spend to challenge consistently, 500M?
