Newcastle United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

For all sorts of reasons, our goals input from midfield has dried up completely, so regardless of how they actually played (and Grealish, Lewis, Bernardo, and Kovacic were all reasonable today) I fear for our results when Haaland isn't firing on all cylinders

Without Rodri we desperately need Foden to recapture last season's form whilst Doku needs to improve on his 3 PL goals.

Pep will continue using that midfield we saw today, its the perfect midfield for control which Pep loves, it means teams can't hit us on transitions. Foden doesn't fit, he makes the risky pass we don't have a midfielder who can stop transitions against us if that pass doesn't come off.

We are Manchester fucking City. We’ll be absolutely fine.

And as for writing off the title… it’s September.
Good on you Eric - we have won just about everything, we have constantly changed, evolved and moved forward. We have lost the likes of Sergio, Vinny, Yaya, Dave n Fern and yet we have continued to win things . Sometimes I can’t believe what I read on here. FFS give it a rest and trust in those who have never let us down. Rant over and back to my Malbec. CTID - love you all you fabulous blues.

Yeah I'm not disagreeing but Gvardiol is a bigger goal threat than Grealish,. Lewis and Kovacic combined
We won't be caught on a counter attack, but equally we're relying too much on Haaland and (when he's up to speed) Foden.

Agree to a large extent but we also suffered 3-4 seasons when it didn't quite click.
This season could go either way, but let's not kid ourselves that we were brilliant today

They've just got to find a new way to win now. Simple as. Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face... and we my friends, have been punched in the face. Its going to be a dirty street fight from now on. Buckle up lads.

We’ve played 6 games, SIX games and some folk are panicking. For goodness sake we are MANCHESTER CITY THE BEST TEAM IN THE LAND AND ALL THE WORLD.

Stop worrying we’ll be back on top soon enough. :-)
These days I feel a bit disappointed when we haven’t won. I think, somehow, my brain has forgotten the days of Frank Clarke, Alan Ball, Stuart Pierce et al. It must be disappointment in the display rather the result and that penalty. That was a dive, his foot hit the turf not Ederson. Let’s hope we’re back to our free flowing football sooner rather than later.
