Laughable, a bit like the Celtic player kicking the Rangers keeper in the head the other week, he took a step then kicked him in the head after he had gathered the ball but he didn’t require an air ambulance so just a yellow card

We actually controlled large portions of the game but just didn’t create nearly enough chances. Doku must have had his worst game of the season and Phil was nigh on invisible.
Fair play the barcodes set up to stifle us and it worked. And they could have been 3-0 up at HT but for Gigi. He really is a magnificent goalkeeper.

The commentators kept referring to this 3 up bollocks (they said 3 - 1 actually), completeley ignoring the fact the 3rd chance would have been offside, then again after today probably not! They also did not acknowledge our 2 penalty shouts.

They were desperate for them to win, as were the officials!

Today fucking stunk, it was actually a good game of football but they had the nod in all the decisions!
 
From a non-City fan perspective I thought the foul on Foden was as clear a pen as you'll ever see. He smashed his ankle! The fact Foden had already hit the ball is irrelevant, else it would be legal to just punch someone in the face as long as they'd already played the ball. Pretty sure Antony Gordon got a red for Newcastle vs the Dippers for a late foul on VvD after he'd already played the ball on. So not only was it a penalty but it was also a yellow card. That being said don't be surprised at the lack of pens at SJP - I remember Gyokeres having a penalty overturned despite being wiped out by Pope - in that instance it was deemed he played the ball and then a nanosecond later wiped out Gyokeres so I guess the refs are applying the same consistency even if I disagree and think a foul is a foul whether it happens after the ball is played or not, particularly if it is dangerous play (which smashing someone's ankle surely is).

Re the handball shout, at the time I didn't think that was a pen but I've not seen it back yet.

Re the 2nd Newcastle goal supposedly Dias' elbow is playing Guimares onside but last I checked football is played with the feet and not the arms. So in my opinion offside should be based on where the feet are and not the upper body, in which case Guimaraes would have been miles offside.

Yeah,

Not so long ago I would have said no pen, he got his shot away.

However, the bar has been lowered considerably for the red shirt shite so it"s only fair everyone else is treated the same.

● Phil scores but is kicked - goal given

● Phil kicked before shooting, Penalty awarded

● Challenge happens outside the box, free kick and booking

The bloke was nowhere near the ball and kicked Phil"s ankle.

How the fuck is it not a penalty?

Not too sure that Doku was ever really that good at all today, he just looked to me like he had a totally frustrating afternoon .... he did create a couple of chances, he does try, and he truly stands out in some matches, but generally he flatters to decieve in games, with no real consistency .... and at times he disappears in games all too easily.

We enjoy 68% possession, and our wingers SHOULD really be running Newcastle ragged, and putting dangerous balls into the box ..... yet most City fans are going for our goalkeeper as City MOTM, and in the player vote on this forum he's got no real competition for the award either!

Game today needed that extra quality in midfield to go and get the game won. It's always a tough place to go, particularly on a Saturday night but too many snatched chances and Newcastle had plenty themselves. The physicality of their midfield did for us ultimately. Needed Foden or Cherki to go and impose themselves and get the result for us.

TBH I thought Doku looked good, particularly in the 1st half - he was creating spaces for Haaland and Foden and going past players. He seemed to come into the middle of the pitch a fair bit and the Newcastle defenders were struggling to handle him. I was surprised Pep took him off.

I honestly think that in pgmol's minds it's an evening up for the scouse game, just glad the scouse pricks got battered again personally despite Arsenal probably moving further ahead and most likely eventually winning the league, you look capable, mentality may be your only weakness.

I''ll be honest I don't like many arsenal fans, but given the distance I'd rather your lot than the scouse or the scum. All very disagreeable ofc.

do you think we are consistent enough to win the league? We are a work in progress. It's took one and a quarter seasons and counting to get where we are today. Its hard to get a team like the Vinny Kompany years. They were the best team the PL has ever seen. Doubt we'll see that again anytime soon.

Nico played well.

Sav' had loads of the ball and a great chance to score but blasted over!

Doku was obviosly fooked which was a shame.

I reckon if we played these last week we would have won.

Yeah I've noticed a few Rags fans adopting an 'anyone but Liverpool or City' mentality and getting behind Arsenal. Not that we need that lot on our side - kiss of death!

Long way to go, City have some amazing players but I did find it interesting to contrast City today with when we went to SJP last month. I felt City have a lot more 'chaos' in the games where you can score the goals but you can also concede them (vs Arsenal where it tends to be a lot more sterile as we smother midfields, but probably a pretty dull watch for the neutral). But I guess you're always at risk of being punished if you don't take your chances (as the opponent will get some) in those chaotic games so I'd imagine Pep will be looking at that.

Like I said though, long way to go in the season, we still have to visit the Etihad. SJP is a tough place to go, they rise to the occasion against the big boys, and don't be surprised if they get turned over by some lower table side at SJP next time around.

He was off at the start of the attack

Off all the time during the attack

Off when the ball was played to him (by their player) and he missed.

I tried explaining it to my lad and gave up :-)
