Newcastle United (A) | Post Match thread

Hmm exposed some weaknesses of the inverted full backs against teams with pace up front. Bournemouth occasionally found space but nothing came from it. I wonder if pep will have a rethink against certain teams dread to think of salah being given that space !!
still early days!

- Newcastle away will be a tough game for a few more teams yet, very happy with a point after where we were.

- Nick Pope ultimately drew them their game, so it can't have been as bad as it felt c.60 minutes.

- Gundogan and Haaland still looking decent, they'll be a lot of goals between them this season.

- Walker in midfield has looked incredible and really naive so far. We wouldn't play like that against Liverpool, there will be some teams that punish us with that space on the wings.

- You don't win or lose the league in August. Reminder to everyone that four points in front of Liverpool is worth fuck all at this time of year.

- Think it probably was a yellow and not a red. Commentator celebrating it like a goal was fucking annoying, though.

I said it at half time about getting walker for gomez and still think it should of happened as we needed a goal at the end and walker instead of passing the kdb at the end of the game in a better place for a cross he wipes it straight to pope in net there a reason why walker gets about 2 assist a season

Never seen Pep’s tactics failing so badly ever. Walker is probably the least technically gifted player in the entire squad and Pep play him inverted, allowing potenitally the best counter attacking winger in the league acres of space. All three goals happened through St.Maximin racing down the left side. I’ll take a point, after being 3-1 down, but feel we could easily have won it

Did well to come back from 3-1 down given how bad we were. It’s mad that our 5/10 performance matches other team’s best effort. We could’ve won it too.

Will never not be amazed at our mentality. Never ever down and out. It’s phenomenal.

Really worried if Ake is injured cause stones was absolutely shocking today and that can sometimes be a harbinger for him.

Some really poor performances today, but I thought Foden was particularly poor. Young players have a dip after a rapid rise. I hope his is short.

We had equalized so early, if we could have made the right substitution, we would have won. But well done for fighting back and getting a point. Walker and Diaz should improve their awareness.

Wank first half, improved 2nd but still disjointed and lacking an edge....great to get a point and show some character though.

Pep needs to utilise his subs, its fucking baffling.

MOTM??? pass

Anyway...just a shit day at the office,we all have them.

We move on (to fucking Barca....wow)

Howe is an excellent manager and Newcastle will cause a lot of problems for all other teams this season. A fair draw I'd say.
Foden, for the second time, clearly ignored a free Haaland, which I really hope will be addressed and fixed.
We were clearly not at out best, but credit to Newcastle for a terrific performance.

Hindsight or whatever but sub would’ve made the difference.
Only god and pep knows why he didn’t use 4 subs .

Was playing Stones ready for this game? Only his second appearance of any kind since…flapping about injured in the Villa game.

He and Walker were shit today and too many times Walker found himself on the ball in a key area up the pitch making a terrible pass.

After we went 3-3 as well I’m not sure we passed to Haaland? Every time he gets the ball something happens

Decent point against a jubilant Newcastle side. Happy we didn't crumble when it was 3-1.
