Newcastle United (A) | Post Match thread

To pull it back that far though there is a chance of the defender blocking it. I think he looked earlier and the pass wasn't on so he has decided to go past the defender and shoot. You don't really have much time to think of much else at that point.
He didn’t have to pull it back. A square pass would have been latched onto by Haaland. He's no slouch, witness his performance against WHU.

Really enjoyed that today. Such a refreshing change to see a team give as good as they get and have a real go. Allowed ourselves to play at pace, exploit the spaces and also face the considerable risk on the counter. Sometimes, even if the result does not go your way, its worth remembering why you got into football in the first place, and it was for matches like today.

Brilliant spectacle, hats off to both teams and well played City for salvaging a draw when lesser sides would have buckled.
It wasn't too enjoyable just after HT!

Holy shit. Grealish being blamed for us struggling and he wasn't even in the squad. That's gotta be some sort of record. JFC

Because Grealish didn't play today because injury, that's somehow his fault getting injured.

Really laughable logic have been throwing from his detractor today.

Pep had said in his press conference on Friday that some players had 'niggles'. Maybe he could not bring on certain players because of that?
Wouldn’t surprise me if they held Dias out because he wasn’t fully fit coming in. When has Pep ever chosen Ake over him? Hope he’s fit now…

What really puzzles me is VAR should only be used for a clear and obvious error. The ref saw it as a red, VAR didn’t. The video replay added nothing to the debate, however once they asked him over they were overturning his opinion, when the referee’s decision should be final. Add to narrative we were level with, what 10, 15 minutes left? That was a result influencing decision in a title race we were looking to run away with. Over to the agenda thread!!
Problem is we arent hearing what theyre saying. Got no problem theoretically with them saying go take a look, but theres no reason not to broadcast their discussion. Just a lack of transparency

How many times are sky going to mention the Almirón comment??? A nothing comment from a pissed up Grealish, but he does learn to keep his mouth shut for just the reasons we are seeing today.

Just when we thought it was going to be a stroll this season.......

The defence was all over the place for 25 minutes of the first half, and we couldn't get a hold on the ball.
Was sceptical after West Ham about Walker playing in midfield even though he was grand that day, but he was a big problem today. He just isn't comfortable enough on the ball to play there, he's a defender and a very good one who relies on pace and strength.

Rodri wasn't his usual self either today.

At 56 minutes i'd happily have taken a draw, but we had enough chances in that last half hour to win 6-3
