Can't remember the last time i looked at our next match and felt indifferent to the outcome , i usually want us to win every game but the Carabao Cup is a hinderance now , it sounds very Raggish but we have bigger fish to fry.We went out in the quarter finals with a weakened team last season at Southampton , and there is no chance Pep is going to play a full strength team in this cup so we may as well exit the competition at the first stage and save our energy.

Our squad will be stretched this season and i have enjoyed all of our recent Carabao cup finals but we have history to make , four consecutive title wins and the first English club to retain the Champs league will make Pep and this team immortal in football terms.

Ortega

Rico
Gvardiol

Anybody think that with Pep being flippant about playing himself, he's sort of in the mindset of being ready to bin this competition off? Surprises me, because he likes to win everything, but the injury situation being what it is…

I can see Newcastle going strong because other than the FA cup this is their realistic chance of silverware. They're not winning the premier league & even though they've had a difficult start fixtures wise, their top 4 chances are slim. Then you look at their ucl group & even if they get out of it, they won't win UCL. They've probably got a better chance in Europe of finishing 3rd & trying to win the chumps league.

Tough one this,

Going through causes fixture problems before Christmas and then that 2 legged Semi is a killer.

The football calendar is completely fucked.

Cramming in competitive games around International shite and a Winer break, it's fucking mental!

Nobody can claim pep doesn't care about the competition given he's won it 5 times already, nor is it rag-like to want to bin it off this year. The scheduling has dictated that we will have to field an entire EDS side should we reach the quarter finals and given our EDS isn't particularly strong right now after selling or loaning out the better players it's essentially a guaranteed elimination. So why should pep take the rounds prior to that seriously and play a strong side when the people in charge can't even give us an opportunity to field a strong side further down the line.

Take all the EDS and only the players who will benefit from minutes which is probably, ortega, Lewis, gomez, phillips, bobb and grealish. then kovacic if hes fit and needs it and perhaps nunes, gvardiol and doku as the new boys still learning with the latter names playing 45-60 minutes tops. Use it as a training exercise or even experiment and don't be concerned with the result.
