Newcastle United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Just thinking back to the game last night; how quiet was Tonali for them? Did absolutely nothing and they were better after he went off.
He’s a young player learning a new system in a language he probably doesn’t speak. (That’s before you factor in geordie)

It‘s a good example of why Pep doesn’t play young players in midfield.

Also, it shows that eating at Wetherspoons means you run out of energy after an hour.

On the contrary, I've succeeded as a parent, according to my lights. I never let my parents make my choices for me, I have always been ferociously independent of family pressure (and indeed peer group pressure). It's the way I roll.
I have brought him up to have the same mindset. It's given me some real old shocks. As a an old sixties hippie, it was not easy to take it on board when over twenty years ago he announced to his mother and me that he was joining the army. He's still there and, being how he is, he's capable of being critical of the army and the way it works. It's the way he rolls.
Contrary to the song, my Father did not say to me one day ‘is it red or blue for you, and if it’s red you’re out the door and we won’t see you no more’.

Despite both him and my Mother being Blues (and all my grandparents), he told me to take my time thinking about who I wanted to support. Rather than making me support City like he and Mam do, he actually asked me what team I wanted to go and watch and what shirt I wanted to wear.

He has always maintained that brainwashing young children into what the adult wants them to be like is the wrong way to bring a child up. He was open to let me be a City, United or Altrincham fan. It was up to me.

Same for everything, despite him being a staunch atheist, he sent me to a CofE primary school because it was a good school and he let me work out for myself there is no god and religion is bollocks (which I’d worked out by the time I was about 8), just like he let me work out for myself that City were the right team to follow.

Great performance under the circumstances given the midweek efforts.
Brilliant atmosphere and great celebrations at the start made sure I lost my voice before kick off.
Foden was outstanding but a big nod for Kovacic; he was excellent. He drove the team forward and his ball retention and passing rhythm were up there with Rodri. He was the one making the midfield tick over.
Pep is obviously looking for him to push forward into the position Gundogan was playing and the early signs are really good.
Though Gvardiol looked pretty good too…Ake has serious competition now.
I was surprised there were no subs and Rodri looked absolutely shattered towards the end.
You sure about the celebrations? I was reliably informed by Keys (hairy hands) that it was small time celebrating something from last year, ignoring tge fact first home game since.
I dutifully went and made a cup of tea until they had finished

Absolutely fuck all on the right hand side, walker doing 2 jobs , and Newcastle fans win the day
One the train home and the only good thing was the result. Terrible welcome home by the fans for the treble winners
were you there??? Puzzled by this. From my seat in CB3 i thought the newc fans were quiet as a church mouse.

I thought the atmosphere when the players came out was electric, i love the work the club does with the banners etc. we gave the team a rousing welcome.

A tired performance yes, obviously with the last weeks schedule. But on another day and haaland had his shooting boots on we would have won 4/5-0.
We dominated a top 4 team and limited them to one 25 yard shot.

The result was far more important than the performance.
8 day rest now and we will see a different city

Big like!

You should have chosen Altrincham. Just a glory hunter, aren't you?

Just watching the recording of the match. How fitting that the goal build up was Rodri, Walker, Kova and Phil. All 11 were magnificent, but these 4 were particularly magnificent.

The other standout points - how were we not playing against 10 or less last night, and how did we not get anyone stretchered off? Anthony Gordon is a snide shithouse ****

My great great grandad arthur moved from leek to ancoats in 1898 and chose City as his team. Itd have been difficult and maybe a bit weird me supporting anyone other than City .

Its not a case of anyone making a child do anything. Its just guiding them in the right direction ;)
