I can well imagine they are looking at those players and will likely offer United the best part of £200m for them I bet. Of course, they aren't worth that but this is the going rate for these decidedly average players. I hope they come sniffing around some of our loan players!Dm reporting they’re going for bailly, van de beek, martial, and lingard. Looks like bacon chops has been on the blower to Bruce
One of The Wolfe Tones' most famous songs is "Go home British soldier." The last rendition I heard was from the Celtic fans at the CL match at the Etihad. It was possibly their least sectarian song of the entire evening. It's a bit ironic that that song is one of the best known songs by that most republican of Irish folk bands, the Wolfe Tones.
Unless there's two songs called "the sash".
Agree totally. The last thing they need is those deadbeats from United. They need hungry young British players who want to make a name for themselves like Ward-Prowse, Calvin Phillips, Bellingham, Ollie Watkins, even Saka from Arsenal. They need to poach Brendan Rogers from Leicester and try and get Tielemans as well. The squad they have at present is not good enough to stay up in my view.I can well imagine they are looking at those players and will likely offer United the best part of £200m for them I bet. The problem for Newcastle is when I look at that list, I don't necessarily think they what they need and it's not clear whether they are upgrades on what they have - especially once Bruce forces his tactics on them.
Also, that list is the list of unhappy players at United, only Pogba is missing from it! They are likely to be a negative clique too who will be guaranteed to kill team spirit. I'm sure they also think they are entitled to CL football every year - again, something we found is that good player will only play for clubs in the CL every year. Bailly isn't interested in playing for United, so why would he get fired up at Newcastle? VdB probably wants to go back to Europe, Martial thinks he's better than he is at United and Lingard probably wants to go back to West Ham. I'm sure they will be the "stepping stones" to the big names, but that list of players looks more desperation than a plan.
This is the problem they have. Bruce isn't good enough and won't attract anyone decent, but he will keep them up. They are starting from a much lower bar than The Sheikh did, and Newcastle have a real risk of going down, whoever is in charge, because the squad isn't good enough. That's down to Ashley.
The players they are targeting are decent on paper but in reality will come with a lot of baggage. They aren't likely to attract anyone else either, they need to find the "trophy name" (Coutinho, James Rodriguez etc) too to kick start it, but I can imagine it's going to cost a LOT of money to get the players they want up there.
They do love a rebel song or five. Am I right @Magicpole?One of The Wolfe Tones' most famous songs is "Go home British soldier." The last rendition I heard was from the Celtic fans at the CL match at the Etihad. It was possibly their least sectarian song of the entire evening.

Stayed there (in Whitley Bay) in January 1991 for the week, as I was working all over the area. The only reason I remember the date was that, as I got back into the digs after a few beverages, the owner suggested I watched the TV when I got to my room. The bombing of Baghdad had just started, to begin Desert Storm!Bloody brassic up there in the winter.
I welcome it, competition from another club is healthy for the league. Good luck to them claiming a top 4 spot and pushing one of the rags, dippers, chavs or spuds out, whats not to like.Reading other footy forums 'united/Liverpool', you'd swear we were all shitting ourselves at the prospect of someone coming in with more cash than us, yet this thread is a little like 2008 all over again.
The only ones shitting themselves right now will be the owners of Arsenal, united, dippers etc as their cash cows are to be threatened once again. Probably having a meeting right now as I type.
