Will be massively interesting this, I am fully in your camp and will be surprised if they win it in 10 years.

FFP is out there and the cartel clubs will be determined to not have any more competition. I would expect to see some more emphasis on salary/ turnover, that will make it even harder for Newcastle.

The market prices for players is crazy high, we invest what we have just to try and stay on top.

A net spend of £300-400 million per season is going to be needed to start replacing 6/7 players at a time. These will also not be the best players these will be the ones hoping to put you in contention for top 4.

It is then going to be an even bigger outlay to get the special players of the next level, plus the cost of the players who have helped you get top 4 but not good enough for the next step but are on inflated wages so no other club will take.

Plus you are rarely going to be getting first pick and no-one can under estimate the window of Yaya and Silva (there is no guarantee of a window as great as that)

Good managers/ structure…The list goes on and on.

United have tried to buy success and have continually failed.

Good luck Newcastle, you are going to need it!!
Yeah my thoughts too. But maybe they do a PSG and buy neymar and mbappe (or equivalents) in the same year? They ain’t in Europe so can’t get FFPd

I'm glad about this as it'll breathe life into a failing old club and it will be at the expense of one of the failing North London clubs - most probably.
They will have to spend more money than we ever did, and compete with FFP from the outset (Premier league FFP) + the top 4 now are streets ahead from the rest - more so than in 2008 when we started our recent journey.
After what we've had for 12 years +, we can't begrudge any other team the same after their lottery win. I wish them well, but feel sorry for the Mackems - they must be really hurting tonight.

Will he, though? Won't their hands be somewhat tied by FFP? They can't just go out and assemble the football equivalent of the Harlem Globetrotters.
exactly! also didnt NUFC vote for strict FFP regulations in the PL. be careful what you wish for.

Got a lot of good mates up in Newcastle after living there for a good few years not long ago, all had nothing but good things to say about our club to me personally. Yeah there's the arseholes on twitter and that true geordie bellend but I love the city and don't mind the club/fanbase on the whole.

Happy for them and would be happy to see another club put pressure on the istry clubs for the top spots, although I cant see that happening for a good few years with ffp and competition from leicester/villa/hammers etc.

Funnily enough I text one of my mates tonight to get his thoughts on the takeover, said I was buzzing for them and hope they do well. He came back and said he was conflicted as it's hard to ignore that they're super villains. Caught me by surprise as I thought he'd be buzzing but fair play I say no hypocrisy (although I'd never heard him slag off our owners before). Made me think though - We didn't have all this human rights shite in the news in 2008 (as no one cared) so I'd already made up my mind on our owners after all the good they did for the club and the city, before everyone got a chance to slag them off - must be hard for some toon fans to get to grips with after all the negative press.

Possibly PSG did not have the stepping stone approach as much as us and certainly helped.

Prior to that they went out got Ibrahimovic and T Silva.

However, they did have CL football, pretty much guaranteed trophies and Paris.

Not so sure Newcastle will have enough to pull those signings off st the stage Paris did.

Also premier league have their own FFP (albeit less harsh then UEFA’s it is still going to impact).

Excellent post my thoughts exactly, as I posted earlier think this has come a few years to late. Be very interesting to see how much is invested in the city of Newcastle. This staverley person has been quite an admirer of what the CFG has done . Time will tell . To be honest I wish it was Sunderland ;)

Money is a great motivator

Seems the gimps on Sky News are talking a lot of the brutal regime and expecting people to care as they show real emotion toward all those that are celebrating the takeover. But why the emotion, they are just doing paper talk?

The reason, they are fans of certain clubs or like to use these things to grandstand their views. We all know that the KSA regime does not align with our own WRT human rights but it’s also understood that we, as a country, don’t mind taking their money for big business, and government, to take their cut.
