We win the League Cup (enough of the naff sponsored monikers)
We come 3rd in the league
We make the Chumps League quarters
We make the FA Cup semis.

A successful first season for Pellers?
NO

Newcastle are supposed to be resting players tonight as well, which there fans aren't too happy about, plus Ashley has stirred them up by banning the press from the club. Couple that with Norwich having a few injury worries too after last nights game, and we should be able to play mixed teams n both games and still win. We have the squad to win both matches and then it's Champions League qualification next week. I expect City to win all three matches starting tonight.

Anyone have a handle on how strong a side Pardew usually plays in these games? And how strong their team is likely to be tonight?

He's mentioned making "3 or 4 changes" to the starting line-up. Read an article yesterday suggesting he wanted to play a full strength side, as he is under pressure at the moment, but the board want him to prioritise the Premiership.

That was my concern at the draw: that he would be too scared of a backlash to not play full strength.

Their full strength against our reserves could go either way, although I'd hope and expect, on the assumption we play the "reserves", that we whack the big guns on the bench like we did in the last round, in case we need to dig ourselves out of a hole.

Our " second eleven " should be able to cope with whatever line up Newcastle start with.

If we have to dig ourselves out of a whole it won't be because the side we put out are not good enough to cope with Newcastle.

My Toon mate has thrown the towel in already. I was talking with him last night after the rags game had finished and his words were 'Hope you get them in the quarters and score 10'.

If Snodgrass and Redmond are unavailable for Saturday its a massive blow for Norwich as they represent their best threats from set pieces and open play.

Maybe slightly off thread and if so I apologise, but, why is YaYa in Nairobi? Surely he would be in consideration for tonight's match so why is he not in the country? From the media watch article on the OS:

"Finally, Yaya Toure has admitted the City already have their work cut out if they wish to win the Premier League title this season after their third defeat of the season on Sunday.

Speaking in Nairobi yesterday, the Ballon d’Or nominee highlighted Liverpool as potential title rivals.

“I must admit that we have a tough battle ahead to reclaim the Premier League crown,” Toure told Goal.

“We must work extra hard as a team to compete with Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United.

“Liverpool are a big threat at the moment because they have a strong squad and their strikers – Luiz Suarez and Daniel Sturridge - are scoring goals at will.”

If you are going to rest Yaya in any game, it will surely be an early round League Cup game against a team likely to keep their best players back for an important League game 3-4 days later. Or should he play every single game this season?

Alan Pardew just said in press conference winning the 'sponsor monkey' cup is a massive priority, so maybe a full strength side.

Not too bothered who he picks, we could stuff their first team with the eds squad the way they've been playing.

like to see Guidetti get 30 mins tonight if we're winning

They have Chelsea at 12:45 on Saturday and the chiefs have made it clear the league is their priority... no Coloccini and S. Taylor (injured), and possibly no Cabaye and Remy (may be rested) tonight. Tiote is going to captain them, though, and has been in good form.
